Hey all,

I have been working on a couple of sites 1 just in frontpage and the other is a cms. Just wondering which page people like the looks of.

Frontpage one is www.gistane.org/test
CMS one is www.gistane.org/joomla

I am thinking the CMS one could limit me more for what i want to use it for which will be to post about my travels etc with pictures. I was looking for a site that I can always update when I am away.

Thoughts?

CMS is definitely better but it is fixed width so on a high res monitor is will be too small and on a low res it will result in horizontal scrolling, not good.

CMS without a single doubt. How would you update with FP anyway when on travel?

The first one rendered strangely in my Firefox. Go with the second.

Same problem here, and even on the second one, when you view the blog, it has the same error. It's weird....

Yeah i have no idea how to fix that. Its so annoying and stuffs up in firefox.

One thing with the CMS I can not work out is how I can upload an image to it without having to FTP. If I want to add a post and insert an image I can see the option to browse the web for it just not upload one.

They both need a lot of work, Frontpage looks like a kid hass splattered html randomly in Firefox. You mustn't have closed off all your tags or something similar to that in FP.

All the tags are closed off it just seems firefox doesnt like the blog template which makes it go out of whack.

Seems CMS is the clear leader so far.

I can always look at changing the CMS Template may make the site look better and change the blog template as well

If you're going to have a blog, use wordpress, it probably the easiest out there and looks pretty good to.

Mine: sid.id.au/blog

joomla is better.

Although you need to do something about the scroll bars in your blog - they suk bad.

You could also move the countdown thing to the right side and then use the centre column for an intro or description of your website.

The blog i use actually is wordpress just with a different template and I have it in an iframe so it loads within the site. I think its the iframe that is screwing it all up

Just add:

to the iframe

Well i have done a little bit of work to this.

I have installed the wordpress blog module for joomla and also a new guestbook. This will fix issues I was having with <iframe> and seems to fit into the site a bit better.

Made the blog as the homepage as well as that will be the reasons for people to come to the site to see what I am up to on my trip etc

As others have said, the first one is pretty average in Firefox, the second one is ok. I don't really understand why you have Joomla with Wordpress and Gallery embedded. You can just use wordpress and gallery (without Joomla) to provide the functionality you're after - and embed the gallery in wordpress (i.e. use the same template) using WPG2 (designed by an aussie).

You can see it in action here: www.farnsy.net

Although I guess you may have more things in mind for Joomla than I can see...

Edit: just noticed you're using Coppermine and not gallery, so suggestion of WPG2 is not relevant... oh well... if you can be swayed though, Gallery2 is very good :) (not that I've used Coppermine though)
