When trying to download off rapidshare it says my ip address is already downloading a file and to wait until it is finished. It was working earlier today, and i am not downloading anything currently. I can not seem to work out why this is happening, i download via firefox. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thankyou.

FAQ section of Rapidshare.de
Your system complaints about that I am already downloading files or that I have already downloaded too much. But I did not download anything! Whats wrong there?
Our system checks your IP-address in order to count the downloads. If you are getting this message and you really did not download anything, then you are using a proxy-server, which is used by other people as well. Even if you have no proxy-server set up in your configuration, there are many providers who force a transparent proxy-servers between you and the net. If you do not believe us, go to other pages telling you your IP-address (for example www.myipaddress.com .) But what can you do? You have to disable this proxy-server. If you are not able to disable the proxy-server, the only solution IS a Premium-account. Premium-users are recognized by cookies, not by IP-address. Unfortunately we cannot disable our IP-check, else people would download so much that we would have to close down this service completely. I hope you understand our situation in this matter.

I've been having the same problem for about 1-2 weeks. Thought it might of been another user at home who used up the bandwidth rapidshare allows each hour

they have tpg's transparent proxy's ip - not their dhcp assigned ip because tpg dont forward the ip headers properly

maxx7 people shouldnt have to reroute their internet traffic thru proxys just to access a site.
not to mention you dont need a program to do that you can setup a proxy in IE/firefox

This is not solely the fault of TPG. True the IP address of the transparent proxy server is being detected, however the proxy server does not hide your individual IP address (you can verify this by going to www.whatismyip.com ). If Rapidshare wanted to they could easily identify individual IP addresses behind the proxy but why would they? They want your money. zen writes... they have tpg's transparent proxy's ip - not their dhcp assigned ip because tpg dont forward the ip headers properly
How do you know this? What are you basing this from?

Eliminate waiting for Rapidshare downloads by following these simple steps:
1. Click the Free button to initiate the download 2. As the countdown timer begins, edit the URL bar by typing in exactly as follows: javascript:var%20counta=0; var%20countb=0; var%20countc=0; var%20countd=0; var%20counte=0; var%20countf=0; var%20countg=0; var%20counth=0; var%20counti=0; var%20countj=0; var%20countk=0; var%20countl=0; var%20countm=0; var%20countn=0; var%20counto=0; var%20countp=0; var%20countq=0; var%20countr=0; var%20counts=0; var%20countt=0; var%20countu=0; var%20countv=0; var%20countw=0; var%20countx=0; var%20county=0; var%20countz=0; 3. Click ENTER or GO.
The direct link should appear. Although very simple to do, many people are unaware of this shortcut.
Here is a quick tutorial on how to download files from Rapidshare simultaneously using Firefox. It is a simple operation; one must use a different proxy per download. Although it seems impossible to do on Internet Explorer, it is extremely simple with Firefox. Although this tip works, the downloads do slow down significantly when one downloads more than two files. Here are the quick steps:
1. Using the FireFox browser, download and install the SwitchProxy plug-in for FireFox. 2. Proceed to finding a free proxy server, I recommend the Steganos Proxies list. 3. Proceed to Rapidshare's download link and start the download. Do not use a download manager (No FlashGet), simply use FireFox's download manager by itself. (This is because Flashget uses your real IP, not the one loaded by the SwitchProxy plug-in) 4. Load the SwitchProxy plug-in and use one of the proxies. This does not interfere with your current download. 5. Proceed to a second Rapidshare download link. In most cases, it should begin a second download. However, if it reads an error (already downloading), then the selected proxy is still submitting your real IP to RapidShare. This may not be your fault, as some free proxies use your real IP. 6. If you get this error, simply try the next available proxy in the list. 7. To begin another download, repeats the steps using a new proxy in the list. This can be done an unlimited amount of times (or until you run out of working proxies).

Using the Rapidshare server, one may download only a specified amount of files per hour. However, because downloads are tracked by an IP address, one may change their IP address, thus downloading as often as one would like. In most cases, an IP address is assigned directly by one's ISP. Here are the steps necessary in changing the IP address:
1. Clean up your cookies; remove them based on instructions from the browser being used. This is done in the case that one or more cookies may belong to Rapidshare. 2. On Command Prompt type the following: * ipconfig /flushdns (Press Enter) * ipconfig /release (Press Enter) * ipconfig /renew (Press Enter) * exit (Press Enter) 3. As a second option, one may save these commands in a .bat file. Then, run it everytime one need to use the Rapidshare server. 4. Remember to clean up all Rapidshare cookies in your temp Internet Files folder upon redoing the commands or rerunning the .bat file
This should solve the problem; the browser should be ready to download as many files as you want from their server.
Notes about how the commands work:
* ipconfig /flushdns - Purges the DNS resolver cache * ipconfig /release - Releases all matching connections * ipconfig /renew - Renews all adapters * exit - Exits

TPG do forward the headers properly - it's just that many sites don't read the headers properly. That's going to have to change though, since it's becoming increasingly common for ISP's to use a transparent proxy.

Stoen writes... How do you know this? What are you basing this from?
from my own experience with dozens of private tracker sites - it was detecting the proxy's ip upon initiating the http download of the torrent file, but then when i connected to the tracker (NOT on http port) it would detect a different ip (my true ip) - since private trackers work by logging your ip when you dl the torrent file, it wouldnt let me connect as it would seem like i hadnt actually download the file from my ip. tpg helpdesk didnt do anything about it, but then again i never thought (or knew!) to enter in the proxy details into my browser (eg proxy.tpg.com.au 3128), so this may alleviate the problem.
this occurred when i first signed up to tpg over a year ago, and i found other ways around it, so i dont know if its still exactly like that but it sounds very similar reading other proxy complaint threads

that was not my experience 1 year ago - using multiple proxies on multiple net access accounts using different connection methods (adsl, shdsl, dialup, cable), only tpg's proxy stuffed me up. my work proxy (isa 2000) worked fine no problems, my friends lan proxy (squid) no problems - just tpg's.
as i said above, might have changed now
