boo @ the paedophiles who caused aussies to be banned from msn chat - you know how emabarassing that was for while, to have all aussies labled (jokingly) as paedophiles?

Yep Mirc is great.

Plenty ppl use Yahoo for chat....

MSN is now closed which sucks, was good while it lasted.

You can always try bigpond chat....LOL
or some localised ones for your city.

Personally i use Mirc sometimes and MSN messenger when i can.

Thanks

its probably still possible to access the chat rooms on msn if you use a anonymous proxy thats based out of australia, like most of them are.

Your encouraged to pay/donate to use it. But every time that warning comes up, I say to the image of that bloke "shove it buddy".

honestly the popup doesn't even bother me. it's like the one in limewire telling you to upgrade to pro, i just hit (x). it's such a small file (1.2MB) i download it once a month and that way i am up-to-date also.

I think most people signed up with Hi5, in the hope they would stop receiving those annoying e-mails. Sadly they just kept coming, and when you sign-up you actually get more, because each time you get a *five* or *testimonial* you get an e-mail as well. It was a smart move by Hi5 though, a lot of people seemed to have signed up, hoping the junk would stop...but it didn't :S

I heard someone suggest MSN Messenger for chat room...how does that work, IM's are really for talking to people you already know, unless you use those bots to connect to IM chat rooms, but I've heard they are pointless. mIRC (well the Austnet server) seems to be dying, I don't know about others, never really used them. mIRC was big late 90's and early 00's, now it's just filled with crap.

Man.. thre are literaly hundreds of thousads of chatrooms on the internet...

to ask in this forum here a good one might be is like asking an Indian what breed of camel is best.

dude , google 'chat rooms'
and you will find yourself with a plethora of available chatrooms that will invigorate , tantalise and violate you to the limit you wish

I .. personally use , Paltalk.com

however most aussie disagree with paying $40 a year to have the best chat room available.

go knock yaself out on what the internet is bases on which is IRC , but , dont go asking for advice as to which is the BEST

msn chat was good, because you got the most regular people (as it was linked to directly from a very popular IM client)- it was good for impulse chat

for irc, you need to be a friggen programmer... no casual people in there!
the other ones need you to either download an app (not web based), or are full of empty rooms

A bit misleading I think. I regard paltalk as THE best. You dont have to pay $40 to use Paltalk. All that does is stop the pop ups when logging on and off and gives you streaming webcams in a room. You can still use streaming webcam in Instant Messages to people.

I cant say Ive come across any voice chat that has crystal clear sound like Paltalk. Thousands of rooms to enjoy too..I say give it a go..its worth it.

There are over 20,000 rooms on MSN Australia .. and that's just one category. So there's always plenty of places to head into and chat. One of the more popular aussie rooms is The Klubhouse II groups.msn.com/TheKlubHo...reen.msnw?&pps=k

No, those are msn groups chat sites, built into each group site..

we're talking about the old MSN Chat! that was completely stand alone.

Oh those ones. So glad those horrible rooms have gone .... Hard to maintain, let alone keep active, and spambots galore.

Best move MSN ever made really. Now if you own a room you don't have to sit in it 24/7 to keep it alive.

iirc, it was in October 2003 that MSN got rid of the online chat fiasco.
