I need a temporary high speed internet option in Adelaide so cable etc is a no go.
I have heard Citilan proide plenty of wireless hotspots around the city so am thinking of taking my laptop in to get my work done.
Does anyone else use Citilan? what kind of speeds can I expect?
The only 2 options they show for access are dialup/adsl accounts with Airnet and Internode. Airnet says you can buy a normal dialup account and get free access, while Internode doesnt mention it on its site. What whould people recommend who use Citilan?
I need access to a variety of services such as ftp, bittorrent, etc is there any issue with these services, eg port blocking or shaping, download limits or anything else I should be aware of?
Anyone with first hand knowledge or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Apologies if these questions have already been answered but the seach function is not working.

this may come as a shock but ftp and bittorrent can be used for things other than illegal activities.

The hotspot bandwidth are shared among everyone who is connected. If someone else is downloading, you won't reach the maximum speed.
Also I remember that some people were abusing this free service (downloading huge amounts of data) and internode may have capped this service. If you need a high speed service, you'll need to pay for it!

afaik its not free and you need to have an account with either provider to access it.
i would be happy to pay but i only need it temporarily (4 weeks) so plans/contracts are out.

I meant "free" for internode and airnet customers. :) Citilan is currently in limbo but apparently will be a service that anyone can pay to use.
Just out of curiosity, why do you need high-speed access for only a month? Do you need to download a huge amount of stuff?

Always get a connection in Gouger St. While the "hotspot" is down the road a little, I sit outside the Bean Bar, and have a coffee and use the net. I am about 20 mins out town, seeing as you a visitor to our fair City whim me if you get stuck and want to "move" your data.
