I'm not here to try and blow smoke up anyone, but I am about to move house and have been on the search for a better deal.

I have heard from friends, netspace, internode, tpg but in the end they either offer the same or worse off deals or I just don't trust the service.
I would love to go to a naked service, but since iinet count uploads that doesn't interest me.
I have absolutely no interest in a phone line, to the point I have no phone.
So if I can ditch the $30 a month it would be great.
Problem is if I did that with iinet, it would cost me +$10 for the same bandwidth deal, and then probably +$20 to get the upload quota I need to match my usage. So in the end I believe i'm better off sticking with no upload quota until they decide to change that.

They don't call this place whingepool for nothing.
Tell me where the better deal is, or am I wasting my time looking?

Depends what you want.... if you just want to leech, you'll get more quota with TPG – but at the cost of questionable latency. ii seem to be a fairly good 'allround' (value, quotas, performance) isp.

Lots of people out there are internode fans – they're good, but I'd take ii adsl2+ over internode adsl1 (which is usually the choice in the places I live).

Is this by any chance just another thread complaining about iiNet Naked DSL product counting uploads?

If you want/need a phone line look at Naked DSL ( iiNet, Internode ) else look at wireless ( but download quotas are small ).

Home 5 bundled = 25GB+40GB @ ADSL2 speeds for 99.90+calls

Naked Home 5 = 40GB+60GB @ ADSL2 speeds for 89.95 +calls ( local and national free )

Save $10 get 15GB+20GB of quota to balance the upload counting + free calls.

Its not all bad :)

If there were better, why would we all still be with iiNet?

edit: I could've sworn this was in the iiNet forum when I wrote that :P

I just recently signed up with IINET myself. After spending allot of time looking for a nice deal.

The truth is, there were no real exciting deals around at all, well none that had coverage at my exchange.

I did notice that IINET count uploads, but their home 2 deal gave 8G offpeak and 8G peak which is vastly superior to the nearest competotors on my exchange. 16G is pretty good i reckon, compared to 5G which seems to be the norm for the similar price range.

So i guess the moral of the story is that tripple download quota trumps metered uploads any day of the week and on sundays!!
