Just noticed at my local Sanity music store they had... wait for it:
CONSOLE GAMES!!

PS3, 360, Wii and PS2 games and some accessories are now stocked!
And get this, they are actaully cheaper on some games than EB is!

They don't have a huge range yet, just the newest titles which are ~$10 cheaper than EB's.

In the US they have 7/11 stores selling console games.. that would be strange, hitting them up for fuel, a dodgy reheated hotdog and the latest 360 title at midnight

EB is expensive though...you get them to price match game(or JB) and you get their good warranty too.

$10 cheaper than eb is still more than jb generally are.

any new shop is going to have to offer something pretty special to compete with the established stores and i think in terms of games the only way they could do that is chepaer prices than anywhere else

They probably just go for breaking even on the games, it's just another thing to get bodies in the store to buy more product

you're prob right, maybe they think having more stuff will entice someone looking for say a dvd to on a whim buy a game and vice versa. still jb is the better option if there's one nearby

Yeah, ever since JB opened up if there's a new game release I'm there – they have a huge amount of copies on the shelf and the more popular the game the cheaper it is, $79 for Halo 3 on release day for example

SWEET. I don't really care about Sanity selling games, but at my local mall Sanity is right next door to EB games. I want to see the competition!

I think that sounds like a good idea :)

On topic though, the more games stores there are the better it is for us, so, bring on the competition...

Sanity are a rip-off on all products. They're always the dearest on music and dvd's. I'll stick to JB and Big W.

I looked through their prices – they're even higher then in EB!

You can also buy guns from some 7/11 stores as well as ammo. Would be quite strange to see someone at 3am go in buy a gun, some ammo, a carton of milk, dodgy hot dog and a 360 game.

I use sanity to know whats new out, coz they tend to put them up on displays etc. I then proceed to kmart/bigw/jb to purchase at a decent price.

Anyone could take on EB when they sell new 360 games at $110.

I was talking to a guy in JB one day when Burning Crusade came out, and basically a guy from EB came over, bought every copy in JB at $45 and resold the lot for $60 at EB.

Terrible. I mean ok, there's nothing in the law that says you can't do it, but in my view it's pretty unethical. Never buy from there unless you absolutely have to in my opinion.

I don't remember the last time I even went into EB it's been that long – if I am not getting my games from places like CDWOW or Play-Asia, it's eBay or Steam and failing that, it would be JB.

I don't even understand why some people bother going to EB to price match items when they could just go to the cheaper store (excluding any factors such as availability or location)

I used to like going to EB when they had sales on, but the last time I went during a sale, their items on sale were still more expensive than standard priced games elsewhere. It's no surprise really considering their discounts are off RRP values.

Based on the normal prices of stuff you see Sanity sell, you have to be lacking in Sanity to buy from them in the first place.

If they want to make a play on the console market, their truly worthy opponent is JB.

JB are ALWAYS the cheapest, most games at EB are $109 at release [gta is still $119] where at JB, NR's are $79 [gta was $84 NR]

EB charge premium for no good reason but their own business.

Their trade-ins are absoloute scams.

Never buy at EB, only JB, Big W, K-mart etc... Anywhere's cheaper than EB!

The only time i go to eb is for a rare game. For example today i picked up persona 3 FES edition. I have never seen that in another store and i frequent jb, eb and games almost every day!

But new releases or common games JB and BIG W are your best bet.

Wrong.

I buy ALL my games at EB Games and they are always the same price as the cheapest shop in town...Big W, Kmart, JB... all of them. It's called PRICE MATCHING.
The reason I buy at EB Games is the 7day trial period. I return about 50% of the games I buy for a full refund.

I think the last time I bought something from there was a preowned copy of Road To the World Cup 06 for 15 dollars for 360. Pretty good value but that's about 12 months ago and haven't bought anything since. If i'm going past one, i'll have a look inside, but they never have anything compelling to buy.

Went into Westfield Marion today, and the Sanity store there has games up as well. Didn't have much of a look, but they seem to be around the same prices as most stores.

I wanted a DS game for my niece for xmas, BigW has it on special for $25, but no stock... Went into Game, and they wouldn't price match because it was lower than wholesale price.

Walked down to EB, they matched it no worries... $49.95 game for $25... sweet.

:)

i have smashed 3 games in 3 weeks – just waiting for that killer title that will be the keeper
they arent all that bad, but most of the time they are.
when we had a good dollar, i just bought from o/s

Thread title should read "Sanity to fail miserably in an already over-saturated market".

EB > *

They pricematch everything I've ever bought to them.

I can't remember the last game I bought that wasn't price matched at EB. The good thing is you can get 15% of your next purchase at EB by signing up on their website (you don't have to even do anything other than give some details, and I just used an email address that I never check), so it is technically 15% cheaper than anywhere else. Otherwise, plenty of games are still over $120...
