Picked up myself a 1TB WD My Book Essential, for $170, Asked them to price match HN and said that HN priced matched MSY using its 110%.

MSY = $187
JB Hi-fi Original = $239
HN price match msy = $170
JB Hi-Fi price matches HN

Worth a try worked for me, If I post up receipt maybe you guys can take it in and show them its $170 and try get HN to do another 110% price match lol

Wow, $170 is a pretty good price especially given that the WD 1TB Caviar Green by itself currently goes for around $165 at the very least!

Would they price match an item that's marked as a clearance product, limited stock.

The crappy AUD-USD exchange rate has seen alot of computer hardware prices increase from what they were only a month or two ago.

went and got one of these from DSE indooroopilly. got it for $179

thought it was a bargain, then read the reviews, no wonder they want to get rid of them.

supposedly they overheat something bad, even though their website says its a aluminum case which disperses heat, it must be a crock of shit.

now im wondering whether i rip it apart and take the 2 500gb's out and put them into my machine, or wait till they fail?????

PC Maniacs had WD Elements 1TB for 170$, but they removed it from the catalog just a few hours ago, I guess it got sold out.

I had it in my shopping cart ready to get purchased at Monday...but I guess I wasn't lucky. I ordered it from the shopping cart anyway (the URL of the hard drive isn't working anymore), lets hope my order won't get rejected.

They didn't match mine in JB Hi-Fi Werribee Plaza, Melbourne...

I had R3XNebular's receipt printed but the guy didn't even bother to look at it, he asked from what date it is – 3rd of December I said. Then he said that the price have changed from then and they can't price match it, which is apparently bullshit – CRAIG3426 got his one yesterday.

I went to HN to get it from there, but they didn't have 1TB Essential Edition, the biggest they had was 640GB. The 1TB WD They had was the WD Elements one for 198$...So i got it, I'm happy with it. ;)

Thanks for the receipt anyway R3XNebular, i appreciate it ;)

Yeah i saw it for $219 at Aus Post today aswell. I saw the WD 1TB Elements for $199 at DSE today also. I believe the Elements drive contains the 1TB Caviar Blue hard drive as opposed to the Caviar Green that's in the Essentials drive.

I managed to get one on Friday for $189 from OfficeWorks, they pricematched on the HDD and a WRT610n which was $449 which i got for $284. I thought i still paid a few dollars too much for the HDD, but it seems not as of recently. :) There ticket price on the HDD was also $219

What's the difference between the Caviar Blue and the Caviar Green drives, anything significant?

Caviar Green is a 5400rpm drive and Caviar Blue is a full 7200rpm drive.

The price of these things go up and down like a yoyo. I walk past OfficeWorks North Sydney every morning and they have a big display of these drives. I've seen 3 different prices – $199, $219, and $249. They seem to cycle between 219 and 249 every other day!

The 1tb was at 170 for quite a while at good guys and officeworks late last month. So for them to price match to 170 isn't that a big deal. But with the low Australian Dollar, it seems like 200 is probably the norm now.
