Know your ISP.

I'm new here, please be nice

I Know dodo has pretty good plans but their customer service RIP OFF people.
Issue 1.
They don't send written terms and conditions and you are suppose to remember everything
Issue 2.
They have advertised on their web site under the broadband that
"All ADSL2+ plans can only be purchased combined with Dodo Home Phone. On-peak times are 1:00pm to 12:59am and Off-peak are 1:00am to 12:59pm."
I am a ADSL2+ plan holder and I thought i am on this same peak/off peak times. But I was wrong and realised it when all my downloads i was doing in the off peak time was reducing from my peak hour allocation. then they tell me I am a old customer and i have different peak and off peak times. then I asked where have you mentined it (it is not anywhere in their web site) and they say, that they told me over the phone when subscribed to the package and did not want to fix the problem.

Issue 3.
My sister was with dodo too (well i recommended it, my bad!). And her contract was over and she wanted to go to different ISP. When we try to cancel, dodo said we have to call them when it's 14 days or less to the next billing cycle. I asked why? I am giving you more than 14 days notice and i have already paid for this month so why i cannot cancel. There is no answer to that and when i spoke to supervisor he finally cancelled it.
They simpley wanted to charge me for another month.

Issue 4. Finally when I cancel my sisters connection and try to connect to TPG, they said dodo has not removed the internet code yet. And then i had to call dodo again (Another 30 minutes) and they say it takes 7-10 days to remove it. Isn't it crazy in the 21st century to wait for 10 days to simply cancel a internet connection?

SUMMARY:
beware of Account cancellation tricks of dodo(how many days of notice and get the internet codes removed)
beware of terms and conditions tricks such as peak/off peak hours of dodo
beware of verbal contract, always demand them to send you a written contract and take time to read it before get connected.
You have to wait for nearly 30 minutes to talk to someone.

If possible DO NOT GET TRAPPED TO THEIR LOW COST PLANS.

lol, so when was the last time anyone signed up to an ISP and was handed a paper hardcopy of the T&C?

T&C change so it makes infinately more sense to keep it online where it is accessable at any time.

I must ask since you are suck a jackass about people and dodo, Do you think its right what they are doing with the shapping?
Making there own rules up as they go?
Dodo · Dodo ADSL 512K Unlimited in your profile is that still right?

If so you should have been shapped for a while now, but then again if all you do online is this whirlpool forums and talk crap about other dodo users shapping wont effect you at all so i dunno what is up with you thanks!

Dodo is only good as a isp if you dont have any probs where you need them to help and dont download over 60gig a month and if you dont wanna change isp.

Edit: Happend again i hit "Reply to this post" and no quotes or anything i dunno what im doing wrong

If you do a churn then you contact TPG and tell them you want to churn. The only time you contact Dodo is after the churn is completed and that is to disconnect their service. What I think has happened here is Dodo has disconnected your service with them and you can't be churned because there is no service to churn. They have forced you to start a new connection with TPG. What this means is Dodo has to remove the codes from your line and then TPG can proceed in setting up your Internet account with them. It only takes TPG 3 to 5 working days to remove codes from the line I think Dodo making you wait 10 days are just being lazy. They can remove codes from your line in as little as 24 hours if they wanted to.

Hi Middsco,

Even if Dodo's service is not active, if there are codes on the line they can still be churned.

That's true, but it sounds like TPG can't see his phone service so they are assuming he needs a new connection. The problem is TPG can only setup the Internet on a Telstra line and Dodo home phone is on an Optus line. fedup needs to move his home phone to Telstra then he will be able to churn his Internet to TPG. It sounds like he may have told Dodo to go ahead and remove the codes so it would be pointless churning now.

DODO – OH NO!!!!

Please do not join Dodo. Their "customer service" people are highly trained in providing nervous breakdowns, grey hair, high blood pressure, angina, heart attacks and in eliciting from you the use of words which are forbidden to use in front of the children.

I won’t bore you with the details of my many experiences on the phone (and on hold) to Dodo customer service, but I will say that their Asian staff have just enough English to trick you into thinking that they are able to help you, but really only have just enough English to play lip service to your questions and frustrate the hell out you as they lead you around and around in ever tightening circles of pain.

To call them a bunch of TURKEYS is to insult the Turkeys; Turkeys have far better English, customer service skills and more business acumen.
So, if you want to remain sane, retain the colour in your hair, and not go to an early grave, then PLEASE chose an ISP other than Dodo.

Well we signed up with dodo prepaid wireless at the end of last week and still arent connected..after ringing them a numourous amount of times since then and still no avail nothing..gave out activation code almost every time we called...called on our mobile was on there almost an hr and asked them to phone back as their system was slow apparently and an hr later still no call so hubby had to go down to a phone box and ring them back..they only asked for activation code nothing else each time we called and told us on the weekend that it takes up to 24 hrs working time to get activated so monday comes and still nothing called them again and they said 30 to 24 hrs it should be activated called them again last night and the non aussie says the same thing and I keep telling them weve been thru all this and then she asks for the sim number on the modem WOW first time we have been asked for that..so we ring around 8.30am Qld time and the customer service dont open til 10am so..

I ring them this afternoon and we go thru the same thing again and I said to her we rang Friday and its now Tuesday and she comes back and says it will definately be on in 30 mins to 24 hrs and I said are you 100% sure on that and she says yes we have your sim number and I thought why didnt they phone us and ask for it..and then she puts me thru to another department and I get this Aussie man amazingly and I said are you goin to tell me the truth that my wireless prepaid will be definately on in 24 hrs and he says it takes 24 hrs after sim etc is activated and I said we were never asked for it and he couldnt really explain himself..

I said well if it aint connected in 24 hrs I will be contacting the Communication Ombudsman and he said we have 10 days to resolve this before I can do anything and I thought yeah 3 working days are up already so not many days left..I think I might have put the jeebies hopefully up them.. I am so sick of them atm..I was going to sign up with them for full service with phone and net but that has put me off...So not a happy camper...

They dont seem to care about their customers at all...So my advice stay clear from them

Hmmm.....

I'm a first time poster Rothguard.
I'm very real! (Just because I don't spend my every waking moment posting on your "lifes little fixation", won't ever make me any less alive.)
I've never bothered to post before, as I had received all the information I had required by reading.
Maybe it's something you could consider. You appear to attack any comment made in anger at Dodo. (Is there something there you need to share with everyone?)

I've been with Dodo for......I would guess 5 years. I have found their service appalling. 18 months ago I was considering moving at the same time I was considering changing provider. I was getting harrasssed by numerous unsolicited sales calls from Dodo everytime I called them, even though they had no right to have the number they were calling.
I ended up going through the Ombudsman....and won.

I'm still with Dodo (funnily enough because they have stopped calling). Today, however, I've decided to look at my options. Seeing your childish little bickering just helped me with my decision to go.

So perhaps you should turn off your computer, walk outside, have a look around and realise exactly how irrelevant you are!

wow 5 years of appaling service come on dont lie to me YOU LIKE IT

and 5 years of not posting about it on whirlpool -only australias premiere broadband discussion forum- all the information you have gathered over 5 years of reading whirlpool led you to to conclusion that it would in your best interest to stay with dodo?

dont cry to me about 5 years of bad service you could have left 5 years ago

i would put money down that neither of the single posters in this thread will post again

what is irrelevant is your post as it offers nothing usefull to the continuation of this thread other than to again personally attack me for pointing out another irrelevant useless poster that does nothing but fill up this forum with shit

ill say it again if some on can post some actual information about what their problem is then maby someone will help them to solve it. is all you want to do is baww about it then i will continue to point you out

The problems with Dodo are numerous.
They have used illegal sales calls in the past. I had received them on many occassions. I had complained about them each time (I really don't like being cold called, especially when the caller has no legal right to). THis got to be a problem to such an extent that I complained about it to the ombudsman. The ombudsman said I was one of many complaints about Dodo. The problem was of such a sizable issue that they were charged with breaching their obligations.
They were found guilty. They paid a sizable fine.
It's on record. It's well known to those at Dodo, even down to lowly call takers.
Speaking of call takers. Dodos are from India. Look on this forum for the problems people are having.
As to my being with them for 5 years and not changing. The internet isn't my whole life. I use it for minimal activity. Changing my provider isn't the cusp of my existence.
If this isn't to the liking of anyone......refer it to someone who cares.

Dodo are poor. The number of topics on this forum pointing out this issue, is all the evidence anyone would want.

The only person who would deny this would be an employee of the company.

Why? It doesn't contravene WP policy.

The same could be said for your sanctimonious eye rolling and calling for threads to be closed.

Give people a bit of credit – if I see a one-hit-wonder, I have a brain in my head and can make a judgement as to the person's validiity, their "fairdinkumness". Single posters definitely look sus, but you cannot say that with 100% accuracy no matter how well you think you can judge people. You may mean well but you come across as just another netcop.

I'm not a dodo customer but lurk here for some of the crazy threads

Actually, the thread you posted is exactly what you seem to despise. It is a thread seeking support for a petition against Dodo's throttling practices.

You seem to think you're troubleshooting when the OP has clearly already done so himself, to a greater degree than anything you have suggested. Pull your head in. Please.

As far as I am aware, if someone posts a complaint about a company on this forum, they aren't required to supply how the company should be fixed. Nor are they required to ask others to do the same.

Many people would come to this forum when they aren't happy with their current provider. When they see others having the same opinions, the company they deal through, they decide to put in their six pence worth. This is called a "FIRST POST."

Some deride these people for being new, or "noobs," pretending that they have no credibility because it's one post. Many of the "noobs" don't post again, because they leave here with all the information they require about their company (and promptly change).

The lack of credibility is with the company and especially anyone who is blind to the bleeding obvious.

and i bet that some people only post once and then dont post again because they dont want to be unfairly chastised by self appointed lords like rothgaurd.

trying to lord it over the new posters is not on in my book.
