Hi, my cable is going at 20220kbps when it is meant to be 17000kbps. I live in Adelaide where the 30mbps upgrade hasn't happened yet and i am unsure to how this is possible. I am on cable extreme and lovin' the speed. Upload is crap at 256 (actually 240)

What is your cable speed

maybe indicate what you are using as a test for speed? speedtest.net I presume?

Thats normal.

Bigpond set the speed cap higher than the advertised to allow for overheads and such

8Mbps standard is capped at 10Mbps
17Mbps extreme is capped at 21Mbps
30Mbps extreme is not capped (limit is 38Mbps I think)

If you want to test your speed use http://speedtest.net/

The other tests do not give very accurate or consistent results.

If you look you tested your speed using a 70kb file, the file is so small that your connection cannot establish a fast connection before the file has completed downloading.

thats KILOBYTES per second, or if you like almost 2megabytes per second! some people will never be happy :)

I have hit the 30Mbit before.

This is me....NOW on bigpond ADSL2+........I am torrenting @ 319kB/s during this test :)

P.S. I know this result on the face of it doesn't look all that good, however re-read my post and it'll make sense...

To the guys having speed problems ...Disconnect/switch off your modem for a minute then try again....this actually works sometimes ;)
