Hey folks,
Does anyone have a decent copy of the above – detailed to street level? The only one I can find on their site in a prospectus and is basically a list of interconnected suburbs.
Cheers

Hello,
Amcom does not offer to the general public a full detailed fibre map.

I don't know of any telecommunications provider that freely publishes such detailed information to the general public.

I know that Comindico had something similar, but this was before SPT bought the company / took over it.

Andrew, If you are interested in getting an Amcom service, I suggest that you contact their sales department.
While they won't be able to provide you with a map, they can possibly give some estimate of how much a connection will cost.

Amcom were able to give me a network map (through a genuine sales enquiry) a few years ago.
I think it was more to justify the ludicrous installation price of a point-point fibre link :|
(oh look see we're going to have to dig this far to cable your building boo hoo:P) give us $20k!

For 20K I'd expect a decent diagram of what we're buying...

They used to publish the list of fibre enabled buildings and maps.. But not anymore.
However you can ring and say, "We're thinking of moving to blah, do you have fibre there?"

But if you thinking of moving and fibre availability is one of your prime considerations? If the map was available, one could decide which areas are more suitable. Not only which suburb but what streets. If you are going to rent premises in Subiaco (where there is fibre), you could be getting a house where fibre is just outside or where the friend of mine who was a reseller rented. Then Amcom offered him a special deal (for a dealer) of $6500 to connect. So he did not.

Buts it more complicated than that. Just because the fibre is in the street doesnt mean its usuable. The nearest pit boxes could be km's away. Mind you. A pit could also be at the end of your driveway.
Also. Picking a location that ½ to somewhere major might work in your favour. For example. Picking Balcatta might be ok because Amcom knows they could just keep going up the freeway to Joondalup ( yes there is fibre already)

Can anyone tell me if the fibre reaches the Maddington exhange? The question has been asked before, but seems to be ignored by those with the technical knowledge to provide a definate answer...

Hello,
At this stage there are no plans to enable the Maddington exchange with an Amnet DSLAM. If this changes it will be posted on the Amnet / Amcom website.
