Hi guys,

I was just wondering what is the best way to churn to Netspace ADSL2+ with minimal downtime (1 hour – 1 day is fine for me, but not a few days or a week, etc).

I am currently on Internode ADSL, and have never been on ADSL2+ before.

Is there anyway of going to Netspace ADSL2+ with minimal downtime, ie not 10 business days?

Any help would be mucho appreciated!

Hi

The downtime is only an hour or so while you are rejumpered at the exchange, the 10 days is just the time it will take for a tech to be sent to your exchange to rejumper your phone line.

I believe ive got that right, not 100% sure though since fast churn isnt always availble on adsl 2+ one option may be for you to do an adsl 1 churn to netspace, then when connected apply to adsl 2+, hopefully someone can clarify that so i know in the future also.

It's SST for ADSL2+ to ADSL2+.

If SST isn't available, then your previous connection has to be disconnected, then the new one reconnected. That's what I believe takes 10 business days. SST, like you said downtime is like an hour or so while the phone line is plugged into an iidslam.

Thats why i wonder if fast churning to Netspace ADSL 1, then applying for ADSL 2+ my minimise downtime, but im not 100% sure. Since the OP says they arent on adsl 2+

Not 100% sure though

Hi Ickey

In most cases you will be able to churn to Netspace with minimal downtime. You will be advised of any downtime during the sign-up process either online or via phone. There are some FAQs on our website that give a detailed explanation

http://netspace.net.au/broadband/adsl2/faq.php#faq6

http://netspace.net.au/broadband/adsl2/faq.php#faq7

It will be nice to have you aboard Ickey – welcome to Netspace.

There will be a few of us by the sounds of it I'm also churning over from Spin. Due to happen on the 18th and I was advised that the most downtime would be a day but it shouldn't even be that, just a brief outage whilst things are switched over.

Glad to hear you got a remedy for your Spin speeds, I can't wait to have an ADSL2+ connection that works.

If I understand correctly there are a few Spin/Comcen customers moving over to Netspace. Were all of you guys Bundled with Spin? Did you move your phone service as well?

I was bundled with Spin and am moving the phone and internet to Netspace.

As I signed up as a bundle I believe they had to let me out of both if they were to force me out of either.

Cool cool. If you could keep us up to date on how long it took for the "churn"... if you were one of the people booted off your highquota plans how did you inform Spin/Comcen

Yep I was on the 150gb Plan,

I've been told I'll be swapped over tomorrow (16/11/08) I told Comcen via email / phoned them and was told they only accept cancellations via email haha.. never the less I signed up for Netspace on the 11/11/08 so I'll have to say pretty darn fast change over!

I'll let u know what happens tomorrow :)

Hi,
I am waiting for Netspace to upgrade me from ADSL1 to ADSL2+. My question is can I change my old ADSL filter to the ADSL2+ filter now?

pretty sure there isn't any difference between the filters but sure go ahead change it lol

You'll need an ADSL2+ compatible filter for ADSL2+ otherwise your connection becomes unstable

"ADSL Connection Status Created in system, waiting on response from Telstra"

Well today I got my modem delivered and also my password and "little red netbook" in the mail.
I must say getting a nice package like that on sign-up seems very professional.

I'm quite happy with Netspace so far and I'm not actually using their service until tomorrow. Nice work so far Netspace.

Yeah, me too. I assume that it's an old default message for some standard procedure and it hasn't been updated to reflect non-telstra hardware.

No idea for sure.

There are instructions in the Netspace Little Red Book, starting page 33.

That is providing you have a dialup modem.

I remember that little red book they sent it to me 6 times.

It is a very useful book. It gives you all the info you need for setting up your connection without calling technical support. You will get a letter with it that gives you your password :)

just keep a tip to keep in mind, you can't use your broadband and dialup at the same time. If you happen to connect via both dialup and broadband you will find both connections will go dead.

Nice to hear that such a trivial problem has been sorted before becoming a major annoyance.
These are the sort of things I expect from an ISP.

I think you know all too well that some sure aren't like that, hey Mr.Gomo... ;)

Ok, i'm reading all this posts and nobody has actually confirmed how long is the downtime when upgrading to ADSL2+.
I'm thinking of upgrading from ADSL1. I'm already with Netspace and have been with them for almost 7 years. Very happy with speed and reliability, so hope that ADSL2+ is as good as ADSL1.
Could someone please confirm how long the downtime is when upgrading and from the point of signing up, how long will it take for ADSL2+ to become active? And yes as mentioned earlier i already have ADSL1 with Netspace, if that makes any difference.
I can't stress enough how i can't afford more than a few hours downtime due to working from home 7 days a week.

Cheers.

Ring them, you'll get an answer that way rather then waiting for someone to post. That's what I did and they said I could Rapid transfer then upgrade to ADS2l with max downtime of 24hrs. They can check your lines when you on the phone.

yep mine appears to have also swapped over on saturday, i am not home to check but im sure its all fine ^_^.

did anyone get a Wireless modem when they connected? interested to know if your invoice showed it or not.

i redid part of the checkout for the plan + wifi modem etc and it shows $142.45 or whatever just as i was invoiced, but on the invoice it does not actually show the modem on there, just a Connection fee $99 and various other lines etc.

anyone get a wifi modem and have similar on the first invoice.
