Finally received my letter yesterday from AAPT about changes to my account to take effect from 10 December 2008.

No mention anywhere about new system or whether this is my new billing date BUT the following is noted:

1500k Broadband. The whole family will continue to enjoy the generous 15GB of downloads and no excess usage charges.

No mention anywhere that uploads are counted and it says 15GB not 15000mb. yippee

If you are one the old deal... then uploads do not count.

True.

But AAPT have resumed with the changeover to the new system, so it will be shortlived.

I think you miss interpret me...

I was on the old plan... before uploads counted. When I was rolled over to the new system I kept the uncounted uploads.

Those who were on the plan before the new 1500 ultimate counted uploads... got to keep uncounted uploads.

yes,

I was/am on the old plan where uploads were not counted and have been on this plan for about 3 years. Not anymore though, uploads now count......for me at least as of the 1st of this month. If this change hasn't happened to you, it will do soon enough. I WILL be churning because of this change in the next 2-3 weeks.

There are two letters floating around atm.

One is the migration to the new platform, which you seem to have GarJulin.

The other letter is the one that says your internet/phone rental prices will rise, plus UPLOADS will be counted.

Just keep an eye on your invoices for the costs and your useage.

Edit; Rudebutt1 didn't get the migration letter he got the price rise/plan change letter.

I bolted before i got either.

As a rep here or ring them up to confirm.

I received that letter and it stated that uploads didnt count... and I had confirmation from a rep here.

I left the accout because of value for money... not because of uploads.

As did many others, they didn't know what they were sending.

It's been said in other threads as well.

15GB is not generous.

I was with AAPT and have since moved to an ADSL2+ plan with TPG – 50GB that is generous!

I never waitied for the dreaded letter to come... Still have the home phone with them

Well I have been caught.

I read the letter and it didn't raise a flag to me as it contained the word "continue" which to me suggested no change to the plan other than price which was clearly defined.

Sure enough this morning I have received my email notification of 80% usage after only 6 days. That has occurred because I up load photos to the net.

I believe the letter is misleading. They should have spelt out that uploads were now being counted instead of using terms like “continue to enjoy generous 15 gig limits”.

I went through this before when previous customers were incorrectly swapped to the total limit scheme.

I was prepared to wear the additional cost penalty but this limit is unacceptable as was the underhanded way of delivering the news. The specifics should have been on the letter and for mine it’s just a way of milking an extra month out of people before they jump ship for good.

Bloody disgraceful behaviour AAPT.

How is it AAPT's fault. As you said you read the letter and it didn't raise a flag, be more attentive when reading letters from service providers and you will not come across nasty surprises....

There are also plenty of ISP's out there that offer faster connections with more quota and don't count uploads.

I read this thread because I thought you were being sarcastic! how they can classify 15Gb as generous and keep a straight face! I wonder when the ACCC will start pulling in ISPs for making that kind of claim!

Yep, Ive been changed, didn't even know until I read the bill. Seems my uploads are now counted. Usage went from around 4-5GB to well over 8GB last month. Will have to keep a close watch now...if I stay with AAPT...

When you change a contract you must by law specifically highlight the contractual change. The wording of my letter contained a contradiction. You can't word a contractual change with "continue" when the terms of the contact have been altered in nature to effectively offer no continuity of service as it previously existed.

It took me 5 minutes to get my account un-throttled.

How’s that for attentive?
