Hi,
Just curious if anyone has got MMS working on the Mobile plans.
I've called TPG again and again, and they insist on setting it up (again and again), but it still does not work.

It dosnt work for any of my friends, nor my partners phone that is with TPG.

Last time I called, after insisting that it was setup correctly, they told me they will get a 'senior technician' to contact me, that was last week, and no one has contacted me.

Does ANYONE have MMS working?

Regards,
Joshua D.

Edit: Might also be worth noting that I am using the TPG bought Nokia 6110 Navigator.

Still no feedback. :(

Many of the call centre staff told me that a 'senior technician' would call me back, its been ages since that was started, still no reply/update

Jason A advised me 12 days ago (via forum admin email), that he has raised the concern and would provide me any updates, no reply/update since

This is becoming more and more of a joke... thankfully my fionce has had hers fixed up, if only I had spoken to the operator she spoke to!!!

Still, its been about 2/3 months now, still no MMS.

elgoog,
how did they fix your problem?
Or you just complain , and MMS suddenly working after a week?

I m reseting my phone and send a MMS every hour (other than bed time) since my SIM is activated.

I cannot say there's no improvement, cos when it 1st activated, SMS, GPRS and WAP all do not work.

By default, your voicemail service is disabled. Let me know if you need to enable it.

For the gprs/mms/wap settings please download the settings for your handset by going to this website:

http://optusau.wdsglobal.com/internet. Kindly select the model number of your mobile phone and enter your phone number so that the settings will be sent to you.

I was with Vodafone prepay, took TPG less than half an hour to port, but you need to wait up to 24 hours for a complete activation.

They are extremely helpful and I'm an extremely happy customer.

Sounds similar to mine...EXCEPT, when i receive an MMS, my phone tries to download it....then says failed to connect or something...instead of an sms saying I got mms and can view at an optus website

Who are you with? and are you still trying to fix it?

I can recieve mms but can't send. Always a server error.

It worked for the first 17days I was with tpg and then it just stopped. Emailed as advised by Jason with my concerns, they emailed back saying they would look into it and then nothing.

Got sick of waiting so called helpdesk, advised to wait 48hrs while they contacted optus. 48hrs passed still not working so called back and told optus changed settings and should now work but tpg mms was having issues so I should wait another 24hrs.

Waited the 24hrs and successfully sent 2 mms, took the recipient 4hrs to recieve my mms but it did go through.

4 days later tried to send another mms and not working again. Same problem, server error.

Have used the optus link to set up mms, have had it working so I know my settings are correct. It must be something on tpg/optus end. About to call again tonight.

Sadly I doubt it will. Its something on there end I bet. For it to work then stop, work again and then stop doesn't sound like a sim issue, for your sake I hope I'm worng.

Generally, it is correct.
This is/was optus' policy to enable your account as MMS enabled.
Basically so the system knows to send the MMS to your mobile phone directly, instead of sending you an SMS link to your MMS on their website.

Hope this helps,

All my MMS received are actual MMS, instead of SMS with an URL of the MMS. But when I try to read (download) the MMS it fails. So that means I have MMS enabled???

That would generally indicate that MMS is active and your settings are incorrect.

You do generally need to send an mms before you can recieve. Sending to yourself confirms that it worked (great for tech support to know its working before they hang up).
It is possible to receive but not send. Usually address hiding is the issue with that. Turn it off and that normally solves it. Not always, but normally.

So what is the trick to getting MMS to work with TPG Mobile?

I've got the internet and MMS settings sent from the optus website set in my phone but MMS just wont work.

TPG support over the phone dont seem to know how to fix it.

After waiting several months, I had enough.

I called the helpdesk and asked for what I should do, she assured me that a replacement compatible phone would fix the issue, I explained to her that this was a compatible phone, then she said that I should take it back to the place of purchase. I bought the phone from TPG.

I went into the TPG Head Office, and informed them what the operator had said, gave them my username and password, and the lady insisted that they do not swap the phones, but it would have to be taken to a Nokia repair center.
She checked the call logs, and the operator had not logged the phone call I had made regarding the call.
I explained to the lady that I was sure that the phone was not at fault (as I had tried to do from the beginning with TPG), and that it worked fine with my wife's TPG SIM card. I explained that since I had opened the account with TPG, I had never been able to use the MMS, due to it not being activated, and all other features had been working as expected.
Finally! Someone in TPG who had listened and not told me my phone needed to be set up properly using the Optus website!!! although she was unable to do anything there, she made a phone call and asked 'someone' to call optus wholesale and activate my MMS, She told me that someone would try and call me this afternoon or in the morning (it was after 4:30pm if I recall correctly)
On the way home (10 minutes or so after I had left), I had a call from the usual overseas call center representative, and she told me that MMS had been activated on the account – in disbelief, I asked her to call me back in 5 minutes while I tried to MMS myself, when she called back, I was very happy to say "Thank you, it is working."

I'm not sure why this is such a big issue for TPG, since it's a relatively simple fix, and the call center reps had previously told me the issue would be escalated, as did the TPG reps on Whirlpool.
Further guarantees from TPG reps that I would receive some notification, which had still not happened.
Recently I have emailed forum_admin (again) to find out the status (like a week or so ago) and have had no reply from them.

I'm very disappointed that TPG had let me down, in both the replies and the lack of service.
Although i'm very pleased that the issue has now been resolved.

A big "Thank you" to Rachel from TPG HQ (in Australia) for taking the time to listen to this frustrated man, rather than the usual "Please check your settings" or "I will escalate this issue (and not get back to you)".
You are a wonderful woman, and have great customer service skills.

Every time I have been to TPG (I live not too far from it), they have been excellent in customer service and very helpful.

Most MMS servers are 'self activating', that is a subscriber simply sends themself an MMS and the MMSC self-provisions MMS on the subscriber's account. Were you asked to send yourself an MMS at any stage?

You also need to have an MMS Access Point configured on your handset, as well as an APN with WAP capabilities.

You'd expect that the account would have all this available when it's set up in the first place though.

Simple answer: No!

As far as I know, only optus uses this design (send yourself an MMS and it becomes enabled), allthough it's only half true.
Optus has to enable MMS on your account BEFORE you can send yourself an MMS (normally done at registration), once MMS is activated, your account will not be completely MMS active – The reason you send yourself the MMS is to stop the "You were sent an MMS from 04xx.... to retrieve visit http://....) and actually start receiving real MMS to your handset.

As for the replacement SIM cards, whoever is issuing these should be shot! as I told ucoffee a long time ago, it's a network activation issue, not a Subscriber Identity Module issue (SIM).

It would leave me to believe that the phone is not set up properly, do you have access to another TPG/Optus SIM card to test? if so, this should indicate your problem.

If it still fails with another SIM, try resetting the phones MMS settings.

If it works with another SIM card, ask TPG to de-activate and re-activate MMS, if this fails, ask them to request assistance from Optus wholesale.

It worked for the first 14 days then stopped.

Sim has been tried in another phone, still the same problem. Other sims have been tried in the phone and it works.

TPG have contacted optus and I have been advised my setting have been reset yet the problem persists.

Strange thing was, one day the mms did work out of the blue but only for 1 message. The other strange thing is the recieving phone showed the message had come from a completely different phone number.

I might try this option

Joshua D ✞ writes...

The problem is getting a hold of someone that has a clue and that will make the effort without transfering you and the phone mysteriously disconnecting.

I ported my phone # from iSIM. everything works except MMS, I have called the help desk several times(in november). The advised my settings were being reset by optus and later on I would be able to get settings off Optuszoo. As of yesterday 5/12/08 It says in optuszoo, mms etc is enabled. I request new settings be sent to my mobile. Optus zoo sends be 2 x identical sets of config files . 10 messages in all. 2 x the following , message to say I will be getting settings comming thru, OptusZoo WAP, MMS, INTERNET, & YESINTERNET.

When i try to send and MMS gets queued indefinitely . When I check under details for the MMS, it indicates an error "3525:An error has occured in t"

My Phone is a SE W200i .

PS OptusZoo as at 1am 6/12/08 is only sending me 1 set of setup messages.

bloody annoying

Sorry to bump an old thread but just wanted to see everyone was with this issue.

I have a motorola v6 maxx and am on the TPG $300 cap. I have already had a 2nd sim card sent to me and MMS is still not working. The last time I rang tech support they ended up asking me if I have the internet and gave me the optus website to configure the settings myself.

MMS still doesn't work(I can receive but not send)

Has anyone actually had this problem resolved? Any help much appreciated!
