G'Day Fellow Internodians, For the past week or so, my ADSL+ (8Mbit) connection has constantly been dropping out. So far tonight it's dropped out 3 times in the past 2 hours. I'm connected using the Billion 7401VPG and directly plugged in via Ethernet. Cheers, |

In virtually all cases, dropouts are a result of problems on the phone line back to the exchange, your internal wiring or your CPE (i.e. the modem/router or any filters on the line) – the best way to resolve them is to do some troubleshooting http://www.internode.on.net/s |

I checked everything listed in the Troubleshooting and it all seems correct. I might give Node a call later if it continues. |

hey're open until midnight Adelaide time (11:30PM Melbourne time). Ummm .. that would be 12:30AM Melbourne time, wouldn't it? Also, I've never known my line to have problems as I've had ADSL (1.5Mbit) for a few years before I entered the Node and I rarely dropped. That really doesn't count for much, because the faster you run a connection the more susceptible it is to any faults that might exist. Try driving over a speedbump at 5 KM/h, and then again at 50 KM/h. Same speedbump ... big difference! This is essentially the same thing. The fact that you didn't see the same thing at 1.5Mbit isn't because the underlying problems didn't exist, it's just that the slower line speed effectively masked it a little bit better. |

A m8 on iinet had dropout problems with his adsl2 connection and changed his modulation type from auto to g.dmt im not sure what the modulation type is on ur setup but ask node to advise what modulation type u need and manually set it instead of auto, also run the shortest cable from the modem to the telephone wall socket then an ethernet cat5e cable to your pc the cable can be up too 100 meters long |

I am also on a Telstra DSLAM, although only a 1500 plan. However I recently transfered to Node was getting dropouts every day in the early early morning. I changed the settings in my router to only use G.DMT and G.LITE (I had ADSL2+ checked as with my previous ISP iiNet, I was on ADSL2+. Also changing it to PPPoA instead of PPPoE. This seems to have fixed it as my connection has not dropped since changing it. |

(Sydenham Exchange, VIC) That's freaky, I'm also on the Sydenham exchange and experiencing dropouts and a few while grabbing something off Usenet couple hours back (We should compare notes) Been with Internode for 6 years and the dropouts seem to have started around the time Telstra announced ADSL2+ at the Sydenham – could be just coincidence. I also did upgrade from a Billion 5100 to a 7404VGP few months back, got the occassion lockup from the 5100, but the 7404 has alot more dropouts, but atleast it will reset itself without having to turn it off and on again. A m8 on iinet had dropout problems with his adsl2 connection and changed his modulation type from auto to g.dmt im not sure what the modulation type is on ur setup but ask node to advise what modulation type u need and manually set it instead of auto My modulation is set to Multimode and the Operation Mode is G.Dmt, from another thread someone suggested changing the Coding Gain from Auto to 0. |
