This is very confusing.

After relocating to a new address we had ADSL2 activated, had cable in the previous address which was the best (capped speeds of 9 Mbs most of the times).

For the first few days the ADSL2+ speeds would cap at 3Mbs on average.
I did an isolation test, both with and with out the filter, but still had the same speeds.

I rang up Optus they told me it could be the distance, no way because I live 1.5 Kms away from my exchange.
Then they said it could be the quality of my copper line, which I doubt because I live in relatively new area.

Anyways after a week or 2 (yesterday) my brother decided to do an isolation test again out of curiosity, again with and with out the filter.
To my surprise the speeds reached 10Mbs on average.

I then did the isolation test earlier today, with out the filter, and the max speed reached 17 Mbs.

As of this moment, with the filter plugged in, my speeds now vary from 4 to 16Mbps.

I am very very very confused, did my filter simply needed a warm up? lol

Any replies will be highly appreciated, many thanks in advanced.

It could be traffic on the ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+ Line which is making the speeds vary

Sounds like you might have plugged your filter in backwards

Where are you placing the filter, this goes between any phone lines and wall socket, not between the modem and the wall socket.

Unless you use a splitter, which allows to connect the same line to a phone and the Internet from the one wall socket.
