Hello

I just received a phone salses offer from exetel. the offer is 69$ adsl1 broadband and unlimited download. I can not take a 24 month contract because I'm a overseas student student. 125$ connection fee with no contract.

the person at the phone was really trying to let me make the offer at the phone. I was looking to take TPG with my housemates. And I didn't take the offer because I want to think about this. And I didn't trust this exetel is a lot smaller than tpg or bigpond (contracts ends 20 sep, so i want to change) and don't know how stable the connections are.

So I asked her to phone me back tomorrow and that was almost a big problem with these phone sales. Because of this I don't trust them.

Unlimited download is it to good to be true?
What are your thoughts?

Sounds fake to me.

Exetel have never advertised in the past, and don't even have a dedicated sales section AFAIK. Exetel management has also been critical of Telstra's recent efforts at soliciting ADSL contracts via cold telephone calling.

Apart from that, I seem to recall JL stating recently ( I can't remember where) that he thought long-term ADSL contracts were not a good thing. (or words to that effect)

Also, Exetel don't do "unlimited" plans.

Well we do have some Columbo sales/support ppl twiddling their thumbs I guess. Otherwise I doubt it came from Exetel.

Here is the real Exetel ADSL1 plan price.

Thee is only a 6 months contract.

ADSL2 pricing is better but I think it is 12 months contract.

possibly that ISP, but at the mentioned price, it would be 256/64 speed and so not very suitable for a house full of internet useres.

I would way it probably was Eftel.

My wife got a call the day before yesterday with an offer from Eftel and she commented that the guy on the phone was difficult to understand.

The guy didn't seem to cluey either as he was trying to offer us an ADSL1 plan which is funny seeing that we don't have a copper phone line :-)
We have optus cable and the phone is via their HFC connection
