Hey guys, I know Games.internode.on.net was peering with Adam.com.au, and i know Adams home page used to show content from Games.internode.on.net Is free, But it doesn't show anymore, And I've just been downloading a 2gb game from it, God i hope Adam hasn't lost the peering or PIPE Between internodes new games network "Games.on.net"

GamingSA which is Adam's no offence is quite junk, It's like they don't even care about it, The next thing you guys should do is find a few people to actually work on it constantly and improve your gaming network. Like seriously, the latest news is about a week and a bit old, Which is the Saint's row collectors thing, Hell, if you need help on it, just let me know.

The layout is really awkward, News barely gets updated, there is like 2% of the lines of what Internode's has, Come on guys, Do something decent with the Gaming section

Although i do think I'm still getting there through PIPE, As I'm downloading an easy 400kbps more than most servers.

Nah mate it didn't i was just about to try and edit or reply here to say, that it didn't.

On my Firefox usage meter it says "Internal, 6gb" So the Demo's i did download got counted as local. :)

I don't know what i would do without internodes gaming network.

Dunno what planet you're on, but I see 2 News items posted today & 3 yesterday, making 5 since your blessed Saint's Row article which is dated Sept 3rd (your planet suffers from time dilation too?). Check for yourself in the News Forum at http://www.gamingsa.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=85

like 2% of the lines of what ... has

So what? Quantity is always better than Quality on Planet Josheh.

Do something decent with the Gaming

Play on the servers, that's where GamingSA really shines. Whether you're in SA, somewhere else in AU or even in Asia, any night where you want a high quality frag, there's players nowadays on GamingSA's servers & they've got the best Game Admins that money can't buy.

Which is what this whole freaking topic is about

Actually this whole 'freaking' topic is about Peering with games.internode (which is done via PIPE Networks, not directly)

Not about GamingSA's website, thats just a subcontext (yes, im been double meaning here, as I do agree with what your saying, as did one of the Ex-Network Op's people of Adam Internet)

Mate they have 4-5 people on Net Ops, if they are that skint on people actually making their network run, you can be assured that 2-3 (few) people full time on a games system wont happen, they have different focus to what node does.

The fact that games.node is peered is of huge benefit to adam users, and of little to node, access via pipe is a 'gift' not a right. Also depending on the advertised routes at at any given time something that was peered via pipe, may temporarily be routed via another network to another non-peered network.

the moral of this story, is that you are crying over nothing
games.internode.on.net is peered with pipe, adam are peered with pipe, the end.

but that is not a guarantee, and for multiple reasons at any given time it could be non-pipe traffic.

GamingSA is junk. They don't upload many new demo's or add ons. Internode is 100x further than GamingSA with download content.

That'd be because http://www.gamingsa.com/index.php?p=files is driven by "on demand" requests for files by Adam customers or interested parties.

If you want a file available on the GamingSA Mirror, you just post a request in the File Mirror (aptly named) forum at http://www.gamingsa.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=23 and you can be sure you'll get it as "local" traffic as an Adam customer.

I've done that before a few years ago. Took 1 month to get the content I wanted on.

Try again now then, as GamingSA is quite a different beast nowadays from years past, with kick ar*e servers, more coordination & teamwork.

Took 1 month to get the content I wanted

There was a request made early yesterday morning for a complex set of files from European servers & it was all done by yesterday afternoon, with 2 guys on-the-case & posting progress reports to update the requester.

Not too shabby for a volunteer run & community focussed group of gamers!

Surely proactive works a little better. Internet is a 'now medium' you dont want to wait days, before you can even start your download, or stream your movie. Even waiting a day doesn't quite cut it.

I think Adam should 'spruce up' its mirror/game servers, or just can the lot. ATM they are both just half arsed attempts that reflect poorly on them as a company. Why not can one and do one properly, instead of too badly?

I appreciate their attempts and efforts, but why not just do one well (ie the games site/servers)

I cant really see what the issue is, I just search the Adam mirrors and if its not there get it from the Node ones...its really not that hard.

Why not then just get it from the node servers given 99% will be there? It makes the Adam ones redundant.

Im not forgetting its run by volunteers, I think the job they do to maintain it at the level its at is brilliant, I just think Adam should do that themselves.

Why not use those volunteers times for other things (forum/game mods etc), or let those volunteers be used for more 'out there' things than downloading files for people, which can and should be done by scripts.

The volunteers that do the work are enthusiastic and helpful, if it were me, I would prefer to be doing non-scriptable work.

I some what agree, and at least I'm not alone on my views.

The way I see it is, Adam are a massive company now, they advertise on TV, they are taking on users from all sorts of different ISP'S that unfortunately shut down, they have decent pricing and a good service, They're also in Competition with Internode "They have to be with this sort of business"

They think and I agree with most part, that they are better than Internode, But face facts, A major part of having the internet is for gaming, if you're paying over $60 a month for internet, surely you download trailers and game demo's and stuff?

What I'm getting at, or trying to get out is if Adam think they are so big "which i agree that they are" why not try and beat Internode's gaming network? "Good things never last" and it's just a matter of time Until internode and peering stop us from downloading from them.

And then We'll all be stuck with Adam's, Why not hire more people to work on it? If it's just volunteer work surely there's people on here who would help out on it, I know i would.

And now the fact Internode's Gaming site is so big it's got it's own domain "Games.on.net" and how it actually looks professional now is really awesome.

I just don't think Adam care enough about it, And that's wrong, What happened to this whole "Movies downloading" thing? Stop making so many new idea's that never come true, and just spend a few months making this adam's gaming site better.

Do it up, Get a new layout that isn't so "Adam"ish, Start updating with a lot of different news instead of always the main ones, Add files as they get released, Join a group like Internode has where they get emails from developers with new game trailers and stuff, so you can get the trailers now and not later.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining and it might not be 100% needed, I can always use Internode which i do, But I'd rather support Adam and their Gaming site, But I just can't the way it is right now.

It's going to happen Sooner or later that the Peering will stop, or Internode will force it so it's Node's users only, And unfortunately, if Adam's Gaming site is the same, I'd probably end up switching, as getting so many gaming files is a must for me, I don't do much of the geeky stuff online, I rely on new Demo's to try and Trailers, Other than that i don't use the Internet much. So for me a decent Gaming site with free data is almost a must, And Surely I'm not alone there.
