I've been considering changing ISP for about a month now, and the only ISP which can satisfy my download needs and for the right price (on TPG 1500,25/25 for $70). Dodo has a pretty insane 100/100 for about $80 which is bearable.

But the reason I want to get away from TPG is their connection is unstable and at times feels my off -peak downloads are as slow as dial up.

For those who have been on TPG and moved to Dodo, could I get an idea of the stability and speeds of dodo. From the tread topics, dodo doesn't seem super reliable, but neither is TPG.

Oh and I can't get ADSL2+ so i'm quite limited on my options.

Dodo is shocking i've been with them for over 4 years (56k before dsl), Im on 1500/256 unlim plan.
And im looking to change after 4 months of them shaping me its clear that long time customers dont mean anything over theses years theres been alot of random probs every time you call tech support its always my phoneline or my pc its never them it takes forever to get things fixed on there side its been a non stop fight.
yes they offer cheap plans thats how i joined but after how i've been treated on the phone trying to get "unshaped" and being told that if im un happy with dodo i can leave at any time i give up over 40 phone calls countless hours its just not worth it so watch out going with dodo it looks good but its not.
anyways i have for years always said no dodo's alright its not that bad do not sign up whatever you do

I see I see. Yeah it's never them. Every time I have problems with connecting to the internet I'm told from over there everything is fine and then I must do an isolation test.

So they throttle P2P downloads??

I was on the 512k unlimited plan for roughly 3 years and I was never shaped or throttled once, I have heard some shocking stories though, I would download around70-80gb a month. I'm with iprimus now on adsl2+ and I'm so far less than flattered with the service.

A friend of mine started with dodo and is now with TPG for three house moves, he's happy with them.

If you can put up with the drop outs stay with TPG as you get better speeds or at least in the situation I was facing this has the case

Customer service and payment option/issues are just as bad as each other except for the fact I can credit up the acct with dodo which stops direct debits and their overall members area is actually better then most isps outright

I've not had any experience with Dodo or TPG, but have you looked at iPrimus:

200GB for $80.

No P2P throttling...unless they overlooked my connection. ssshhhh!

A pity the OP stated that they CANNOT GET ADSL2+... so iPrimus is not an option as they have pathetic download allowances on normal ADSL.

Hi lilfishi,

Just to clarify, you're on an ADSL 1 plan therefore on a Telstra infrastructure all the way. Your issue might be either hardware or line related. After all basic troubleshooting has been done (isolation, trying out another cable, modem), we can lodge a fault for further line investigation.

Regards,
EC

would tend to agree with you BoB... dodo are noit what they used to be nor do they care how long you have been with them... their fair usage policy is unfair as they sell palns with far greater download limits than this yet count any downloads (on + off peak) as a total and after the 60Gb you'll be shaped... so if your not going to do more thatn thsi then you'll be happy... for now until they change that as well...

no i am not happy with these guys...

we moved from an unlimited plan that was working ok (no limits upto 80-90G per month) to a 100G peak + 100G off peek, been on the plan for 3 month, then we had a 'slow speed' from 5pm till about midnight... after 3 weeks of hagaling with them about my 'slow speed' they finally admitted that we had been capped as we had exceeded the 60Gb limit wich is over their average user limit or usage policy... when arguagig with these guys they tell me that that is the situation and if not happy to move to someone else...

Yes the ITO are now involved as this is not an acceptable solution...

any other ideas on who to move to...
