Open control panel. Goto sound Click on the soundcard your using and click configure. Follow a couple of screens and your done. After that Id reccomend going into properties, enhancements, and doing the surround sound equalisation. |

I installed the ones of the CD, that came with my motherboard... From my own expeirences, the drivers on those CD's normally have outdated drivers. Go to the gigabyte website and download the drivers there, and then see if that solves your issues. |

I don't have the speaker fill option Does it work okay with genuine 5.1 channel audio? Maybe try the sample audio files from http://www.microsoft.com/wind If that works and it's just "upmixing" that's a problem, try AC3Filter |

How about taking a screenshot of the settings in the Realtek HD Manager window? Might help to see them. You could also try the latest drivers directly from RealTek if you havent allready. I have a Pink Black and Green, and i plugged them into the right color I have the same speakers and shouldnt it be Orange, Black and Green? Pink is for the microphone. |

Yeah i tried orange in orange , still the same, except on the test, it comes through all, and i realized with 5.1, the rear was considered side, so i plugged the black one into the white and still nothing. I have also downloaded the latest drivers and still the same, So I am starting to wonder if the speakers have called it a day.. Why don't I have the Speaker fill, option, I remember with my old Motherboard Asus M2A-VM, and x64 vista had that option and it worked fine :@, |

Ok, I have decided to screen shot, http://i176.photobucket.com/ In the previous speaker test , the rear speakers were not working, I looked at the back of my Mobo, and i saw the black, it was plugged into a jack(black one) that said rear, and i noticed that the Audio Manager, had it whited out, well now i have plugged it into the the rear jack(white), and the test works fine, but when I play music, only come trough the two front and vaguely through the sub. Any other screenshots that is needed, just let me know |

That is one tiny screenshot! Have you checked the speaker enhancement window to see if the speaker fill option is listed there instead? http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/554/capturelx8.jpg Did you upgrade to Vista from XP on this machine, and was the audio working fine there? It seems this person is having the same problem, but no solution either. |

in the enhancement tab also check speaker fill... Funny, I have exactly this setup and had wondered how to get stereo sound to output on all speakers just yesterday. It's exactly what I was looking for :) |

So it identifies all speakers correctly in 5.1 mode when doing the test in the Realtek HD Manager? But the audio samples from http://www.microsoft.com/wind What games are you trying? Surround sound might not be supported in these games on Vista. |

Counter Strike Source, MMORPG"S and stuff, but games aren't my major concern , I just want music and videos to come out through 5 speakers... |

music is only ever played through 2 speakers, and i'd say a fair few games are only programmed for 2 speakers as well, are you sure you just didn't have speaker fill on during your time with xp and don't now? I have the same speakers, and are running 64 bit vista as well, and it works perfectly |

I just want music and videos to come out through 5 speakers... I forgot to ask, what media player are you using? You can only play the MS multi-channel samples correctly with a suitable player (e.g. WMP). If you just want to play normal stereo music through all speakers, try AC3Filter to upmix. |

I was readng about the opposite today – but it could apply. In your Control Panel, you must have "hardware acceleration" completely enebled, or the result is stereo sound It might be worth looking – its amazing how many things we change when setting a machine up from scratch |
