Hi guys, A friend has just signed up with Dodo. Wireless, 24mth contract, $14.95/month, 1GB download, they will be bundling her home phone too. She uses my old Apple iBook, running Mac OS X 10.3.9. I have just set-up her connection for her. I'm concerned, because the Wireless Broadband connection software's main panel reckoned she had downloaded 2.1Mb within 5 minutes of connecting. This was after we performed the following tasks: Does the modem download firmware on first connection to the internet? I'm going to monitor her usage over the next week (using Dodo's online records), so I'll know for sure. I guess I'm venting my concerns a little here. I've been a WP subscriber for some time, and some of the stories about Dodo leave me cold. Thanks! |

Good luck. 1 Gig of data isn't much to juggle with when there could be some very high overlimit fees (great if they will just shape her). Worse case scenario – what is $15pm if she decides it is all too risky and turns the modem off? |

Yeah, though she has been surviving on Telstra's NextG 400Mb or 512Mb of data so far! She's going with Dodo because they are *cheaper* than Telstra. Yes, she's on a low income too. My concerns are growing. She activated the service yesterday, but there is still no ADSL usage recorded for her account now. She's going to contact them to find out how long it takes to get her usage online. Perhaps I'm just worrying needlessly. Also, I don't like the way they have described her service online. She said she'd signed up for the services I've already described in the OP. But their account listing says: Any happy low-usage Dodo customers out there? Please tell me I'm being paranoid and pedantic! |
