is it just me, i dont seem to be getting shaped on my adsl2 connection. ive hit 106% of my quota off peak, and about 80% on peak. and yes, im referring to not being shaped during off-peak, 2am to 12pm.

however, offpeak im still getting full speed, and onpeak i still have full speed.

freaked me out actually, cause i was worried that i may have checked the optional "$10 per gig" after quota option. So i checked with spin.net.au, emailed the accounts dept and they told me i was on the shapped plan and did not chose the $10/p gig option.

go figure.....

Hahaha – first time I have seen someone complain about not being shaped. Whirlpool never disappoints.

same here...
hopefully honesty is the best policy here...
i got shaped on the 20th, but the speeds picked up again today on the 30th.

and that this doesn't eat into my quota next month...
it better not, because you can't hand me a free biscuit then take it away from me :(

I'm thinking of coming over to Spin and this seems a good enough thread to ask these (quick) question in...

How often is Spins download meter updated? I'd presume it'd be in the members area, but are there taskbar applications that also support Spin?

How quick are you shaped after going over your limit?

How are, ahhh, private tracker speeds?..... :-)

it is pretty much instant

from my experience its usually instantly and unshaped instantly too when starting the new month. I remember being with iiNet and their unshaping system was painfully slow, sometimes took like 8 hours to unshape me even after, rebooting the modem did squat

My usage meters are working perfectly now though their shaping system doesnt seem to be which i dont have a problem with :P

Cheers.

iiNet have gotten their game on recently. The meter updates and shapes every 15 minutes. No more 20gb+ overleech on the last day of the month anymore :(

its just a precautionary step to take...

what if this eats into your quota for the next month?

or they somehow charge you extra for downloading at full speeds?

edit:

i actually received the "you have been shaped" email, but surprising enough i'm surfing unshaped internet as of now...

please, pretty please, don't count to next month's quota, i just downloaded 2.1gb worth of stuff :P.

This frustrates me to no end – you realize when you factor AGVC bandwidth as well as IP transit, you probably cost Comcen ~$400 in bandwidth alone that month: those costs need to be absorbed somewhere, most likely by the removal of services such as free PIPE or price increases.

Comcen is not a huge ISP – which makes every cost even more important to manage.

This seems like the best thread to ask about peak offpeak in Brisbane and Qld what time does peak offpeak start with daylight saving down south.

Log into the Usage Meter from the site – 2nd last paragraph lists the time for peak/off peak – and gives the time that Usage Meter server is using for you.

If you are on ADSL2+ = then all QLD users are routed straight to NSW Syd – so all should be using daylight saving time for peak/off peak downloads.

Yeah, back in the good old days I was able 2 d/l well over my limit without being shaped. Now their ADSL speeds r so poor that I am shaped from the beginning of the month 2 the end regardless if I exceed my limit or not.
