Hi all, I've have recently moved to new place and transfered my existing iiNet broadband to my new place. According to www.adsl2exchanges.com.au the cable length is about 3.7km to the exchange. I'm having speed issue with ADSL2+. I'm getting better line sync speed with ADSL/ADSL2 than with ADSL2+. Anyone with know why this is? Modem issue? Thanks in advance. Here's are some data/stats from modem. Downstream Upstream ADSL ADSL2, auto-fallback ADSL2+, auto-fallback |

Quite normal but you could do an isolation_test and also making sure that foxtel or an alarm is filtered. |

I'm getting better line sync speed with ADSL/ADSL2 than with ADSL2+. That is quite common. In layman's terms (I don't know the technical reasons), ADSL and ADSL2 don't work your line quite as hard and hence at greater distances can often give better results. I see exactly the same with my connection at 2838 metres from my exchange. |

I am having the exact same issue, I found my sweet spot to be the ADSL2 profile with code gain 7 – same as your best config above. Another funny thing is the line attenuation various greatly depending on mode, ie I get about 55DB when I use an ADSL1 mode but a much lower 44DB when using ADSL2 or ADSL2+ I too get a poor up sync but still a little better than yours (~0.7Mbit) I would be getting the phone wiring in the house checked if I were you. How is the dial tone when using a phone? What are you line attenuation readings? do yours also vary greatly depending on which mode you use? |

[How is the dial tone when using a phone?'] The phone is crystal clear, there is no hissing/noise. What are you line attenuation readings? do yours also vary greatly depending on which mode you use? I've done isolation test as suggested by Frey, but still the same :(. I'm using D-link DSL-10MF inline filter and read in other posts that it's not recommended for ADSL2+ profile? I guess I should get one that is and try again. |

ADSL2+, auto-fallback Interesting, I wonder if Telstra "have" to look at your line because this sync doesn't even reach the minimum guranteed 1.5Mbit? – I know that you can gain > 1.5Mbit on other ADSL profiles, but they don't have to know that, and after all, your product is ADSL2+ Or am I off track here with the "Telstra have to" part? They tend to "have" to do "nothing" :) |

Or am I off track here with the "Telstra have to" part? They tend to "have" to do "nothing" :) iiNet have to prove the Telstra part of the service is faulty before even talking to Telstra. Any number of non Telstra issue could give the results posted. |

Try setting your modem for ADSL2+ / G.dmt / coding gain = 7 / profile = thrillseeker. I've used this setup for a while now and it gives by far the fastest and most stable connection on my line. |

Try setting your modem for ADSL2+ / G.dmt / coding gain = 7 / profile = thrillseeker. I think he already has. I've used this setup for a while now and it gives by far the fastest and most stable connection on my line. Me to, when I lived about 1km from exchange, but now I have to use ADSL2 otherwise I lose about 1.5Mbit down sync. |
