I haven't seen this discussed since the old unlimited plans were removed.
Ok, a small speed plan 256 kb mention so I guess would be 64kb upload.
But for $40 a month, and signing your home phone to them, seem a good deal.

For the record, I am still on the old (now unavailable) unlimited 512/128 plan for $50-

I started on dodo with the 256/64 plan over fours years ago and upgraded to 512/128 at $50/month some time later. Would cost a bit more to get equivalent plan elsewhere, 'cos I'd like a 40GB limit, but could easily trim usage to below 30GB.

Do Soul still have their unlimited 256/64 plan for $30/month?

No they don't and they recently kicked everyone off the unlimited plans (even though many people were still on contracts). See this thread for more info.

Anyway Dodo's $40 for unlimited 256k isnt really worth it. Sure if you download 24/7 you might be able to download 40gb a month. But you can also join exetels 1500k plan for $40 and download 48gb off peak and 2gb peak for the same price. Much better deal I think.

Wouldn't you need an ADSL2 enabled exchange? I live in a suburb where only ADSL1 can be got and we're full of elderly residents.

Exetel's wouldn't suit older people, but I could cope with it.

No its a ADSL1 plan, so if you can get ADSL you will have no problems getting the 1500/256k plan.

Ripper, thanks for the info. Always thought I was at the max available with 512/128.

Dodo now have a 1500 plan that has 5gb peak and 100gb off peak for $40 when combined with home phone, 105gb for $40 aint bad, they have changed many of there plans.

I could work around that easily. I don't doubt the sad stories of others over the years, yet I and my business connections have had good service for the money.

I am not stupid to Dodo's tricks though. My recommendation to anyone going for a Dodo plan is to be a small user, or a smart user who is I.T. smart.

Thats pretty good. Too bad they didn't come out with that a month earlier. I probably would have went with dodo.

Nah thats 5gb/100gb isn't any good

Just imagine, oops i went over my little 5Gb on peak now my service has been capped to 64kbps peak and offpeak, even if u have the extra 100Gb offpeak, u'll get caught out on the peak downloads.

I'm looking at the $40 – 256k unlimited cause i dl about 70-80gb a month and dont want to have to wait overnight if i see something i want.

If u really want to make use of the 100gb offpeak, u should (and i know its a big price jump +$30) the 1500 100gb/100gb plan. I was thinking about that one, but decided to save money instead and wait that little bit longer for my torrents

Nah I wouldn't mind it at all since it suits my typical usage (download torrents at night and web browse in the day). I'm with exetels 8gb peak 48gb off peak for $45 at the moment and I use about 5gb at peak times for the month.

Dodo's new plan would have been perfect for me but it wasn't around when I joined exetel and now I'm in a 6 month contract (4 months left now)... oh well.

If you want 70-80gb a month you won't get it on a 256k plan. I used to be on soul's 256k unlimited plan and I used to download pretty much 24/7 and I averaged around 40-50gb a month.

Well 80gb is a high month, so some of the crap i download i guess want matter, so i could easily get 70gb, so thats good enough. and the price diff to get the other plans is worth it, especially when i never want to be capped at 64kpbs, that would be hell
