I've just churned over to Westnet and below is the SNR and line attenuation

Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin 18.5 dB 18 dB
Line Attenuation 49.0 dB 31.5 dB
CRC Errors 497 0
Latency Fast Fast

I think nothing much can be done on the line attenuation, and SNR margin is just okay.

I'm only concern with the CRC errors. That's the amount of CRC errors I get in about 24 hours, with little usage.

I haven't rigorously tested this yet. total download in the last 24 hours is about 60 Mb.

Previous provider was eXetel and have not had this issue. Wonder what could be the cause.

Welcome to Westnet I hope your stay will be a pleasant one. Yeah not much you can do on the line antenuation and the SNR is fine not sure what your new plan is whether its 8Mbit or 1.5Mbit.

I wouldnt get to worried about the CRC errors as long as you are getting a good steady connection and downloads are normal, different networks work in different ways most likely its the way they set them up , pretty sure someone will be able to answer it better than I.

I find it strange because the downstream line attenuation seems to be changing over time. After running a while, it drops to 45 dB.

Hmm....

Your attenuation will go up and down quite frequently, not by much, but non the less, will still fluctuate a bit. This is nothing to worry about...
