Hi,

Just had to warn prospective recruits of the new Fusion Plans- DON'T.
I am NOT a heavy internet user at all. I swapped over from the 7gb peak/14gp off peak plan ($49.95/month) to fusion ($99).
Its my secong month and both months Ive been left with 3-5 days with no data left. This month Ive done 15gb Downloads and 4gb Uploads- its the 24th July. So I have just under 1gb for 7 days, a disaster for me since i use the net as part of my work.

Also, the installation was fubar since they accidentally put fusion onto my fax line and charged me for it, gave me 6 dummy numbers when I moved, sent me a bill for $441 for the first month instead of $120 (they fixed it after 8 hours of pleading phone calls).

I just dont get how an internet and phone company know so very little about how to provide a service. If I ran my business so incompetently Id be broke in 3 months i reckon.

If they sold pizzas it'd be late by a week, the wrong order, burned and dropped, overcharged and lost.

Sorry I dont mean to be negative, but i thought Id better just share my experiences before some other poor sod ended up fubared.

Did you read the Terms and Conditions?

You are running a business on a Residential plan. Sure it might be from home, but "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR".

If you want a Business Plan, then pay for one.

As a business owner you should read the small print, I think many on this forum would agree that when choosing a internet provider you need to do some research and I think your attempt to save money on the $99 fusion plan has been a poor choice in this case.

I NEVER said i used the Fusion Plan to run my business.
I do some work at home when i bring it here but just use a small amount of data to access files. But this Fusion Plan cuts me off unless i want to pay $150 extra.

The majority of the online experience (99%) is from my family. So your ensinuation is totally moot.

The problems (If i may) is the Uploads. I never knew so much was used in uploads !! So in effect its more like a 14gp peak + offpeak when you compare it to The norm of everyone else. I wonder how many people are going to fall into this old trap? I know we did.

Hey didnt Telstra try this kind of rort years ago? $150 per gigabyte??
And from memory it was like the biggest ripoff in history...oh well its great to see Optus showing similar colours.

Ummm how does the Terms and Conditions help with a complete stuff up of the installation?

Gosh why don't you read the OP before going off your head?

He said he used the net for work... he didn't say his business was reliant on the internet or he ran his business from his home.

I access work from home after work from time to time which is perfectly reasonable on a non-business plan. Why would I want to even consider going on a business plan for such usage?!

Basically calm down and stop trolling.

| Damnit | has a point though. You should have been sure of your upload and download usage prior to signing up to the plan. Plus you can regularly check your usage throughout the month to control it.

I have a feeling someone in your family is uploading torrents.

Thanks for the info and understanding..

We do NOT use torrent or any peer to peer programs at all.

My kids play World of warcraft and other online games and I talk to my brother on video-chat every few days...so 4gb's of Uploads in a month- is that a lot? I dont know.

I dont know much on Uploads, since ive never been charged for them before.

I'm simply saying that even on the highest Fusion plan i have found it wanting. Thats just us here at my house. Others might be fine.

Just today Ive used up 400mb of downloads and 100mb of uploads so with this ratio in mind, the REAL download limit is more like 14gb- not 20.

Lets not forget there exists no off-peak data, there's no shaping and uplods ARE charged- this is a new thing for us. So we are shocked at how quickly it has mounted over the month.

Regular video calls would have an almost 1 – 1 ratio so that might partially explain it.

But yeah 4 – 1 ratio is overall what you are looking at I would think.

That's why counting uploads is annoying.

Luckily you do not torrent otherwise you'd be looking at a 1 – 1 or 2 – 1 ratio!

Someone is downloading something though. You don't rack up 14 gigs a month just by browsing and playing online games.

Online games would be 50mb-100mb max a day.
Webcamming is quite low as well.
