There's a lot of good news starting to get out there of late re going naked. And who wouldn't rather pocket the $30 line rental anyway?
Are Primus any closer to offering naked adls?
Coming soon maybe?!?!?! ;-)

I keep asking about it, but I have not heard any word on when it will be available. Coming soon perhaps? :P

Hope so, i'd love to save the $30/month that gets wasted on line rental each month

The Naked DSL project has been put on hold to make way for a Wireless HSPA product and also the launch of Optus Wholesale 2+ (which has been done), unmeatered content, live usage, HomeHub and another product I'm not allowed to say the name of.
Once the HSPA product is launched then we would have more of an idea about Naked DSL over our DSLAM Network.
Thanks, Mick

CEO Ravi Bhatia says it doesn't save people money. "It's a marketing furphy ... I feel very queasy about marketing it, because what am I offering? It's very smart marketing, because it's a smart name."

Can someone please elaborate on this? I really don't get where he is coming from with this statement..

I think he's trying to say Naked DSL is a marketing gimmick, which is the way I feel too.
The way our DSL Network is designed, it really doesn't make any difference cost wise weather we sell you a bundled ADSL and Voice Service on a ULL, or sell you Naked DSL on a ULL.
Cheers

Yeah, for you... not for the consumer! The cost saving is for those people who don't use their home phone but need it for DSL..

No that's not what I'm saying, the costs are the same with or without the phone port, so we could charge the same for a Bundled ADSL/Voice Service on our network, as we would to just turn off the Voice Port.
So Naked DSL would just be a Bundled ADSL service with the Voice service turned off, just makes me think, whats the point?

The point is you charge for DSL only.

That does not pay for the upkeep of the ULL line. Line rental still needs to be collected.

Ok, maybe you should tell the other providers that as they are obviously making a loss. Bit hard to fathom when a ULL =< $15

That would be right. Think about it. A bit of wire enters your home. A rental is charged for that line service, traditionally phone rental. On that same wire is a broadband service. It is charged for at the cost of providing all the other bits except the line rental.
Take away the phone service and the cost of the line rental has to go into the broadband service.

The cost of the ULL is incorporated into the DSL Service fee, so the "line rental" is just hidden away in the overall price.
You are still missing my point though, what I'm trying to say is Naked DSL is just a marketing gimick, having a Voice Service or not is all the same.
We could easily release plans that give you a full Voice and ADSL Service without line rental, and just hide away the cost of the ULL in the price like other providers do with Naked DSL, and you'd get the same value out of it, but without the feature reduction of Naked DSL.
What I'm trying to say is, Naked DSL is a Gimmick, what you should be asking for is no line rental, because that is what you actually want is it not?

Ok.. then do it perhaps? :)
At the moment it costs around $29.95 + $52.95 = $82.90 for a 7GB peak plan compared to iiNet 8GB for 59.95
Is there something in the pipeline to add value to this naked dsl marketing hype then?
