I was on the phone to an iprimus techie who said that my uploads would effect my download quota. Is this true? Because that is not what the sales staff led me to believe... Also I have the big kahuna plan. How do I measure my peak and off peak usage? There is no peak/off peak differentiation in the usage toolbox! |

Hey Honda666, This has been discussed at length in the BigKahuna thread on how the BigKahuna plan counts uploads. Thanks |

WHAT A JOKE!!! I thought that Iprimus had a more solid relationship with their customers in terms of honesty... The Kahuna plan clearly targets power users, of which 100% utilise large upload quotas. Smells very bad. Reminds me of living in Korea and having to deal with the vast dodgy business practices over there.. THIS IS UNAUSTRALIAN IPRIMUS! If you want make these choices in your plans then just tell us first, dont try to be so damn sneaky! |

I requested the update to the kahuna plan via the online toolbox where it stated I would receive a call from Iprimus before any plan changes. No call.. "A customer service consultant will contact you to verify your personal details in order for your plan change to take effect. If you are nearing your anniversary date it is recommended you contact us direct on 1300 85 44 85. Your plan change will take effect at the conclusion of your current plan. Some plan changes will need a new dial in number to be activated." Does this mean I am now stuck on the 24 month contract? |

"You should sign up with BigPond." I would but I cant! I live in Carlton and the only provider with ADSL2 ports in my area are Primus. |

Smells very bad. Reminds me of living in Korea and having to deal with the vast dodgy business practices over there.. THIS IS UNAUSTRALIAN IPRIMUS! If you want make these choices in your plans then just tell us first, dont try to be so damn sneaky! Honda, I dont see how this is "dodgy practice" at all. we even put on Whirlpool http://bc.whirlpool.net.au/bc/isp-10-4/iprimus-adsl2.htm that the uploads are counted. Plus it is all over the BigKahuna thread too. I even announced the fact here /forum-replies.cfm?t=984300&p=9#r174 Please tell me how offering 200GB of ADSL2+ for only $79.95 is "unaustralian"?? The Kahuna plan clearly targets power users, of which 100% utilise large upload quotas. You will find that power users are mainly "downloading"... the only time someone will need massive amounts of uploads that will far outweigh the downloads is if they were hosting or running a server which Primus does not allow on a residential account anyways. If you are using Torrents and are that worried about your uploads then just throttle the speed of them and keep the download speed unlimited in you torrent program. You will also find our main competitor for this plan currently offers 150GB so with iPrimus you get an extra 50GB to use if the uploads effect you 'that' much. Even if you uploaded a massive 75GB of data... that still leaves 125GB of downloads.. which is for example.. 20,000 MP3's I thought that Iprimus had a more solid relationship with their customers in terms of honesty... We do and especially on here myself, Rory and the other reps have always been transparent. We will also admit when Primus has done wrong and try to fix it. Please give me an example of where Primus has hidden the fact BigKahuna counts uploads. I would also like to know the names of the Sales or Customer Service Reps who advised you that BigKahuna does not count uploads. Please advise me of their names to wpenquiry@iprimus.com.au so I can pass this on to their Managers for further training and counseling. |

I requested the update to the kahuna plan via the online toolbox where it stated I would receive a call from Iprimus before any plan changes. No call.. How long go did you make the change? These go in a queue to be actioned and we have alot of people changing plans. As per the notice says... "If you are nearing your anniversary date it is recommended you contact us direct on 1300 85 44 85." This is cause they will not be immediate. It goes to our correspondence area as an email and is actioned in turn. If you would like the plan change done any quicker I would be more than happy to do this for you. Does this mean I am now stuck on the 24 month contract? If you like you can email me your username to wpenquiry@iprimus.com.au and i can check the recordings at sign up to see if any misinformation was given and if the verbal is legitimate. Thing is if you're on BigKahuna that plan this plan is one of the best currently for speed + data allowance + price, why would you change and if so, what plan have you found that you want to change to? Personally my advice would be to stay on BigKahuna but just get all the other users on your wireless connection to cap their upload speeds in their torrent programs... /forum-replies.cfm?t=1016490 or if they are using it that much, then chip in for some top-ups :-P |

as for power users having large uploads – well torrenting isn't all that great imho. Mick – how are usenet download speeds on iPrimus please? I don't suppose you have a high speed usenet feed from somewhere like giganews or easynews? I'm waiting on an iPrimus rep to contact me back to see if I can be moved across to the iPrimus ULL on the Lyndhurst exchange so I can finally have something better than 3 wireless broadband. |

I have been told that as we peer with PIPE usenet groups are very quick on our network. A couple users have said this in your other thread /forum-replies.cfm?t=1015394 Personally I havent used them myself as I mainly use my connection for just browsing, Facebook and Youtube and music... boring i know :-P but others here have said the speeds on usenet are awesome. |

I also find it strange that you would sign onto a $79.95 per month plan, and not fully read up and what you were signing on for! |

i dont see why it is an everyday practice to have to read all the terms and conditions for signing up to a plan especially when they are printed in a minuscule font size. And I didnt even sign up! I went to the upgrade plan tab where it clearly says we will call you before! Im calling primus now, should be able to get it cleared up. Ill report back and let you know. |

Im calling primus now, should be able to get it cleared up. Ill report back and let you know I would suggest calling Customer Service when they are open. Customer Service is available between 8am till 8pm Monday to Friday – or – 9am till 5pm Saturday... All that would be available now... or 52 minutes ago when you posted is Technical Support which is 24 hours. i dont see why it is an everyday practice to have to read all the terms and conditions for signing up to a plan especially when they are printed in a minuscule font size. Honda, I would suggest you ALWAYS read the terms and conditions when signing up with ANYTHING with a contract or customer goods... it is just basic common sense... Personally I always read the terms and conditions whether i'm getting finance, signing a contract or buying goods, anything really....or i ask lots and lots of questions.... like termination fees, penalties, terms etc... as i said before... it's just common sense.. |

yep.. i guess i am speaking from a idealists perspective. I just always imagine some alien race come to visit us and they dont understand the concept of keys and contracts, only common sense and trust. I'm a bit of an idealist myself, but I see contracts as a way of protecting both sides by providing the terms of an arrangement in a clear and legally binding way, it means neither can hurt the other without breaching the terms of the agreement and suffering the consequences outlined in the agreement. The problem with the rather common attitude of people not reading contracts is exactly what breeds the problem of companies putting unfair clauses in contracts, if more people take the time to read what they sign, and not sign things they don't agree with then companies will be forced to make the agreements more fair in order to get people to sign them. |

WoW all this for a bloody contract and on what ISP plan!! Look i jst signed up to the big kahuna plan myself i dont count myself a heavy user but i did anyways and mind you it has taken me 4 months to finally decide that the big kahuna plan is best for me. Not only did i read all the terms and conditions of the big kahuna plan but serveral diff ISP and after that i called twice asked lots of question on whirpool I use about 40 gb a months as was on the 21gb plan @$52 plus one top up a month if not two an aditional $25 40GB for peak was enough for me as i download mostly at night so this plan was perfect for me seriously even if you are downloading throttles your uploads most programs allow you to do this Download only quality from sources you can rely on stupid people downloading cams but thats up to them in short i did my research and this plan was best for me shit of you can show an ISP that provides 200gb @$79 and does not count uploads and with reasonable peak times proved 24 tech support shit let me know i think alot will jump across god jesus you are so lucky your not with telstra or optus and to critises on whirpool of all places shit here alone i think i have seen about 20 posts so far relating to the kahuna plan and thank your lorals for people like Mick and Rory if it was not for them and all the iprimus members on whirpool your off peak time would only be about 5 hours a day its not about being an idealist or optimist its about knowing what your are buying before you buy it if your so trusting i have a few contracts i would like you to sign its just commen sence to read and research before you buy after all its nearly a $2000 investment Thanks Iprimus for such service and for releasing the kahuna plan YOU GUYS ROCK |

actually im still a little put off as to why I still cannot differentiate my peak from my offpeak quotas. Seems like a fairly simple procedure to allow this for customers. Is there a reason behind this? |

Seems like a fairly simple procedure to allow this for customers. Not as simple as you would think. If it was simple it would have been done by now. Actually it requires changes to the billing system, BRAS servers and the system that does the shaping. Then the toolbox needs to be updated and all internal systems to show the changes. It is not as easy as it sounds but it is actually just in final testing to be showing in the toolbox soon. Is there a reason behind this? As above. The unmetered usage is now in the toolbox (no unmetered sites are working yet though) and the peak/off peak is the next to be implemented next after the last bit of testing to make sure it works under all test environments are done. Thanks, |
