I'm new here, please be nice

Hi everyone i am a current tpg user but i am moving house soon, my plan will transfer to my roommate.

maybe tpg is the cheapest for 25g plan and no connection fee.
i have to say for the past year i dont have good experience with the service, many many drop out and slow connection. but it seems getting better this month. so for all of you tpg user who do ps3 gaming, how is the lag and download.

this will be major factor for me to decide to go with tpg again or not.

thx

I can't tell you exactly how it is with PS3 gaming, but Call of Duty 4 on Xbox is not the best. I very rarely get 3 bars (fastest) pings and thats when I'm not downloading anything. This could be just Xbox Live servers, but when I'm in a game, it seems like everyone else gets great pings, and I don't. Mind you, I am a couple hunred meters away from the exchange, and I sync at about 20Mbps.

i've played GTA 4.. seems pretty good for up to about 12 players, after that i've noticed some lag.. but still very playable..

also played some resistance, again about the same...

works better then my previous isp (spacelink) it depends whos hosting the games also.. i've played some games with 32 players and its been fine, were some of the ranked games with 8 players and its laggy as hell...

i'm sure there are better ISP's out there if PS3 is one of the main reason to have an internet connection..

Yeh pretty good.

You won't get a computer kinda ping as many PS3 games (or XBOX) for that matter is P2P, i.e. MGO. Battlefield Bad Company play O.K. however expect lag as the servers are in USA. Until they release server files that will allow hosting the game locally, I doubt we will see improvement.

Wouldn't complain at all.

I played Call of Duty 4 and had no lag what-so-ever on any of the servers, a smooth gaming experience :)

You sure you are joining Aussie servers. I almost always get 4 green bars(4 green, 3 green, 2 yellow, 1 red) when playing with Aussies.

To the OP....

Never had any trouble with gaming online (pc or xbox) with TPG, just make sure the modem/router is set up correctly (port forward and stuff).

You might want to check out the MGS4 thread in this forum. TPG users can not access the internet extras at all in that game due to TPG. Its fine with other ISPs. TPG say they are looking into it, but then say they are waiting for users to solve the problem and contact konami for them. As as PS3 friendly ISP TPG rates very, very badly at this stage.

I wasn't aware I had a choice of which server to connect to. If you know how to connect to Aussie ones, whim me. (I thought all servers were over in USA).

CoD4 on xbox is P2P. The game chooses the player with the best ping out of all the players in the lobby. Since IW did the patch, if there is a Yank, UK etc player in there, it chooses them, because they have the better ping to IW headquarters.

If you get into a game with all Aussie players, then you will have an Aussie host.

COD4 is just fine here on ADSL2+. And about downloads, the PSN will most likely cripple your speed, not your connection.
