Hi there everyone.
Just got Spin ADSL2+ 5+10GB service connected via Billion 7300G with the following stats:
Operational Mode ADSL2+ Upstream 812 kbps Downstream 12053 kbps Noise Margin (Upstream) 15.6 db Noise Margin (Downstream) 8.9 db Attenuation (Upstream) 17.1 db Attenuation (Downstream) 27.0 db
Did a couple of speed tests and found upload to be "limited" to 256K per stream. E.g. I expect uploading files to Youtube and Gmail attachments to be much quicker than my old Optus Cable upload speed (256K) since my Spin connection is syncing at 812K.
Any settings that I should edit/ change in the Billion 7300G modem? Already did a factory reset, isolation test and so far, nothing good.

Good question. A lot of users have had inconsistent speed issues, not sure if limited. I am on a 24000/1024 plan and i usually only get around 640kps. Althuogh i haven't tried uploading.

if spin/comcen are using optus wholesaled adsl2, then at best the speeds would be restricted to what they allow. in the case of adsl2 it is 20,000 down and not 100% sure, but upload is 800 or 820KB/s.
this is instead of what adsl2 is capable of 24,000/1024.
no idea about the upload stream issues though.

Yes, upload speeds with Optus wholesale ADSL2+ is 820K. However, it is still a bit weird considering that I can only upload around 256K – around the speed of my old Optus cable plan. This speed is approximately a third of the actual capacity of the upload link.
I have tried using multiple upload links and it is only then when I can fully utilize the upload bandwidth.
Tried many things including resetting the modem, etc but no luck. :(

Not sure about your upload. But what is your download speed?
Many people on this forum are unable to get any where near their sync rate even when downloading.
I sync and 11500 and can barely download at 300KB/s

My download speed is approximately 5Mbits (over wireless) altho I sync at 12Mbit. I usually run tests via the ozspeedtest or speedtest.net

If you look in your modem, what is your UPSTREAM sync rate? If this is 256Kbit, then your port is on a different profile... To fix this, call up and get it changed to full ADSL2+.
If it's anywhere between 256Kbit and 820Kbit, then look at (or post) your ADSL stats including noise margin and attenuation...

The only way spin/comcen "limit" uploads isn't done from their end.
All Optus wholesale DSLAM ports cap at 812k upstream. Other than that there's no capping, so there's something else at fault rather than anything Comcen's doing.

Just had a thought – check that there isn't a firmware update for your modem... The early ADSL2+ modems won't sync at full upstream speed without a firmware update...

It is not that it is not syncing at the full 812kbps upload speed... as stated in the original post, the modem can indeed sync at 812kbps upload.
In fact, I could utilize the entire 812kbps upload IF I used multiple upload streams, e.g. uploading to different sources at any given time.
I am only curious to why I am getting "around" 256K upload per stream. I upload stuff to GMail and I was a little disappointed to find that my upload is only approximately 256K, no faster than my old Optus cable modem. I was expecting it to be a whole lot faster considering the modem is syncing at 812kbps.
If it would help, the software version of the BiPac 7300G modem. Hardware Version TRENDCHIP TC3162 Software Version 1.35-689.80.3_sso_billion Bootrom Version 1.06

I have noticed this as well, I can upload full speed on FTP, MSN messenger and torrents but can only get around 25Kb/s upload to Gmail and Yahoo from Outlook express.
I can attach a file using Gmail web interface and it will upload at full speed.
It looks if Gmail and Yahoo are limiting the upload speed via SMTP rather than the ISP, as I can upload full speed using Comcens SMTP server and with hotmail in Outlook express.
