To hell with those bagging out Westnet.

On Friday, July 11, I submitted an application for phone and ADSL on a line that I had disconnected in April, and the phone was on Monday, July 14. To cap this off I got back from a week long business trip on Friday, July 18, and there was a message waiting to say my ADSL was completed.

In addition I was kept updated with text messages through to completion of both.

Well done Westnet.

Don't be too hard on the whingers, even if their complaints have no substance. Without them we would have almost nothing to talk about. There is only so many times that one can say they are impressed by Westnet's service without sounding like a total sycophant. :)

My daughter and her flatmate signed up to Westnet a couple of months back and it happened so seamlessly and quickly that I wasn't ready to set up their local network for them in time.

Westnet rock!

When the optus network went down (earlier this week), I had several websites hosted on a ADSL2+ connection through westnet (optus network). I contacted westnet to get DNS records changed to another connection so I could keep hosting. They had the records changed immediately, and I was up and running about 1 hr later (after the cache had cleared).

They may be a little more expensive than other ISPs, but they have amazing service!

A good friend of mine jumped ship to Westnet from Bigpond, due to the fact her connection failed with Bigpond due to no ports available. She is now up and running with Westnet, less than 2 weeks later. Bigpond basically told her no go. Seems strange considering they both use the same DSLAM...

But she is happy and thats the main thing :)

You really don't want that.

Amnet would be a better solution, (they do have a reasonable slice of iiborg shares) and far superior support than iiborg.
It's just a shame they didn't grab westnet when they were on offer.

Hope you will have better luck with that happening than me :-)

I don't think their ADSL2+ plans are as good as iiNet. And as for support, we are waiting to see what happens with pricing when Westnet can offer iiNet DSLAMs.

God, I wish I could join in your chorus. I've had the most amazing set of stuff ups – total and complete stuff ups with Westnet. I wanted to stay with them, but they screwed up so many times it's been amazing to watch.

I'm losing business, have no phone line, no internet, although I rang them 4 weeks ago to move house. After they completely stuffed up, I decided (against my better judgment) to go with Bigpond. I signed up with them, but Westnet would NOT release my phone number. I signed with Bigpond two weeks ago and have just found out, after more phone calls than I can remember or keep track of, that they STILL have not released my phone number. I'm told it will be some weeks before I get ADSL at this rate.

4 weeks ago I rang to move the address of my service. I'm as frustrated as hell and want to scream out the window (but no one listens).

Nah, can't say hip, hip hooray for Westnet. I would like to, even though they completely and utterly stuffed up with my move to ADSL2 six months ago. Hopeless and useless, although always friendly and nice on the phone, but no follow through and incredible bungles.

Well this is wingepool. We can't have a positive thread stay that way without you guys... so you've got to feel good about that part :-)

yep I wanna ad that Westnet is great, phone on the next day, bb within 4 days after that, great connection. I think I waited maybe 30 seconds in the queue to sign up and the call took only 5 minutes. The only thing that annoyed me was just to start they charge you for the connection before they invoice you.

Yeah, I figure you'd be feeling great if you'd had happen to you what I've gone through. You'd be singing to high heaven their praises. Give me a break.

Not from me. You could've posted that information in another thread (oh wait, you did) rather than hijack this thread.

I didn't hijack the thread. I added my experience.

Westnet have come to the rescue. They've sorted out my situation (finally!), although I still don't have my phone number, they have connected me with a line and adsl. They've been great to deal with as they've put someone on the case who knows what they're doing. All along I didn't want to leave Westnet, even though I've had some surprisingly weird episodes of mistake after mistake – I feel they're a company that tries to get it right.

Well, I'll give three cheers for Westnet – they've stepped up. Good on them.

Don't get me wrong, you have every right to post your personal experiences.

I just think customers of ISP's should be able to post their positive experiences in a thread without the opposite being added. Unlike another ISP I can think of, we don't have one just for that.

Nothing to stop them starting their own different thread after all.

BTW: I'm glad things have improved with your situation. :-)

I imagine that it would be quite difficult to deal with Telstra and Optus as a wholesale customer. I find it difficult enough as a regular retail customer.

With such suppliers on one side and customers who [quite rightly] expect prompt delivery that old saying about being between a rock and a hard place must regularly spring to the minds of Westnet staff.

I have no problem with your posts in this thread and since your problems are being addressed there can be no issue with relevance.

That is not necessarily Westnet's fault. The number would be in Telstra Wholesales quarantine, which, AFAIK, Telstra Retail have no access to.

Have you also thought that there may have been an issue with Telstra Wholesale?

Oh another thing, were you on ADSL or ADSL2+ with Westnet?
