You won't find anything on the Bigpond website as you'll probably find the "special" doesn't exist and the salesperson was spouting a load of bs. When you get capped the sppeds won't be 8000/128 kbps, more likely 64/64 kpbs. Look at http://promo.bigpond.com/bbo/ for the legit offer (the 3288 offer). If you still got 8000/128 after capping it'd be a leechers dream. I'd love to be proved wrong, but i don't think it'll happen... |

If what you say is true, there is no point calling Bigpond and admitting such a glitch in their system. The only other news I have for you is, run free; in this case, download like an animal, LOL |

they have offered me a special deal (well thats what they tell me) There is nothing "special" about the deal. It is the normal ½ price offer for new customers. The only difference is the claim of the speed being slowed to 8000 after 25GB which, as others have said, is not correct |

8mbps.. download is still not a bad download rate right? Dream on, the real cap is 64k. No ISP in australia offers an 8mbit cap. |

its the same deal.. she even asked her boss to make sure it gets capped down to 8mbit.. That doesn't sound right, 8mbit is about 760kb/sec which as a cap if it's an unlimited cap you could download non stop about 65gb per day. I think some ones telling you crap. However the 64k cap is about 8kb/sec. |

its the same deal.. she even asked her boss to make sure it gets capped down to 8mbit.. and i made sure she said mbit not kbit.. OK, here's the drum. 8Mbps is the standard cable speed. 17 or 30 Mbps is the Extreme speed depending on where you live. I don't care what any idiot in the sales area says, the simple fact of the matter is that BigPond's shaped speed is 64kbps. There are 3 options:
I'm torn 50/50 between 1 and 2. The only way I can explain the number 8 is that 64kbps (bits) is equivalent to 8kB/sec (bytes). im trying to get them to email it to me.. to have proof This, I would like to see. I doubt it will happen. |

$60 a month for line rental and 8Mbps cable with 12GB. Then ask for the $109.95 HomeLine Ultimate with 25GB Extreme cable deal. |

Teach the Bigpond clowns a lesson and opt for another ISP. If they cant offer a competitive ADSL service without bundling your house and two pages of 'ifs' 'or' 'buts', they dont deserve you. |
