I'm a little bit confused by the difference between the companies. They have the same plans and prices.
Is there really any difference? Any company better than the other?
Thanks.

I see that people use Comcen more that Spin (according to the statistics on the main page). Is there any reason?

There is basically no difference between the two companies in terms of speed and quality support as they both share resources.

If you sign up to Comcen you will also have a email at Spin with the same username EG:  and  will both go to the same email box.

Check your WHIM for some info that might be of help

Flip a coin as there is no difference except in name, so you get the best or worst of both worlds with either.

That is really strange imo, If it wasn't split into two it would be further up the list cause it would count both lots of users. I thought it was because 2 ISPs merged into one and they decided to keep their own identities. Even the Logo is the same though, LOL

Maybe someone from Spin/Comcen could give us an explanation :P

The brands are separate companies that share resources to offer customers better value and services.

As for merging our brands on WP to get a higher ranking? We don't really market our services to the WP demographic. With that said... If the number get's high enough so that we would move in to the top10, that's something we'd think about then and discuss internally. It's something WP has asked us to do but, the brands are separate. As of right now, we'd be number 12 if we merged them. We'd need everyone of our users on WP to list us as there ISP and be active in posting to get there. The bottom line is being seen on WP isn't our biggest priority. Running a good ISP that offer value and a good network is. If you do that, everything else looks after itself.

I'm with "Spin" and their homepage and user account/webmail pages are branded as such so I guess Comcen would have their own branded user account and webmail pages as well as a Comcen-branded webpage.

But as a Spin customer, if I log into my online account or webmail, I do not get re-routed to Comcen.

I would think a vast number of customers would come via WP. I mean what marketing do you do?
I found about you via WP, how many others did too.

I would suggest that your staff do a entry survey on all new signups, might get surprising results.
Ofcourse we all want you to run a good ISP that's why i signed up and your good value too, only after seeing all the good posts here on WP could i make the decision to join.

i know they advertise on the adsl2exchanges web page(Spin that is) and i have seen them listed with other ISPs in a computer magazine.

also i remember quite some time ago they did a radio add and mentioned it on here.

Yes i have seen them there as well.
But really i think they don't do a lot of marketing, so it would be benificial for them to do a entry survey of all the new customers, maybe a lot do come through WP and maybe they could make a donation to this fine site. LOL

Considering value for money, Exetel's ADSL2+Phone plans are far better than Spin's. However I'm with Spin for 6 months and I found that the Customer Service of Spin is excellent. In that area I wonder if Exetel can match Spin.

I think they share more than just "resources"

Even with that explanation, thanks Bill. I'm still left wondering...

thats more advertising than i have seen for the majority of other ISPs. :)

depends on what you define resources as. they use the same billing, the same techs etc etc etc. so yes to the average person they appear like one company. still doesnt mean they are. the paper work we never see would probably best show their separation, but we have no right to that and really we should have no need to.

at the end of the day i dont see what the big deal is to we end users. :)

I beg to differ, in comparision i think that every ISP higher then them here on WP would do more marketing then them, as you would expect as the size of the company increases so does the size of the marketing budget. Bearing in mind that say TPG or Exetel do similar things on websites and magazines etc. Then you see ISP's like Aanet Iinet sponser teams in sports etc.

Who cares as long as either looks after us the customers, they can all work in the nude LOL.
The sharing of resources is probably why they have very good plans and good customer service.
I'm still curious as to who is the bigger of the 2.
One thing though is how many people decided to go with them after reading the posts on them here on WP.
Hmm maybe a good idea for a new thread or poll.
