Hi all, Not sure if the WP community know about this program – but a game it isn't! NOTE: If you like it, donate something! With mods and add-ons by other space lovers, you can add it all to this program. Like Better clouds, more detailed graphics, Fly to other planets, build. Fly original Hubble Telescope mission – With REAL NASA voice footage.... When searching the forums one guy, Adam Rodriguez has written a tutorial (Grom start to beggining), on how to take off, land on the moon, and back to Earth – AS Apollo did it!!! Launch your own shuttle. Land on the moon – i mean YOU land on the moon. So these are the basic steps if anyone wants a look. 1) Download the latest version and get the Sound 3.5 as well. Don't do anything else, but install them as is. 2) F1 takes you inside the craft – and back out again. 3) F4 gives you the 'inside' menu – and how to exit. 4) Mouse wheel zooms in and out accordingly. 5) Right mouse gives 360 viewing / rotate views. 6) When you click on the Orbiter.exe select some of the DEMOS/PLAYBACK just to see the candy! If you are interested, then start checking out the forums to check out the mods and addons – but i recommend you just install the program and the sound pack to start with. Have fun, and don't forget to pass on some gold coins to the author – he's put a LOT OF WORK into this, as other space lovers with their addons and mods... Enjoy. |

Some more instructions that will help out to start with. Zero 0 = Vertical thrust + = Increase Horizontal thrust 2+8 = Flaps/thrusters Up and Down 4+6 = Left or Right rudders, i think 1+3 = Airflow or Yaw, from what i can make out. Arrow down = lowers instrumention panels MFD stands for MultiFunction Display. You can click on most buttons in the cockpits and displays (which is f*****g amazing), and/or move levers with the mouse buttons... That's about all i can remember for now. |

http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/ I first stumbled upon it many years ago. Its a terrible shame that its not updated nor made open source any more. I believe he wanted to make people pay $$$ for it but could never add enough new features to make it werth it compared to what the current free version has. Maybe one day he will release the source. |

Hi RZJ, didn't mean any offence, just a joke. But i suppose i made a mistake in not making it clear about the initial Orbiter name, as being the main link. As for DanD – i'm not sure what you mean by 'open source'. There are a lot of people out there using vanila CC+ software to make all the mods and things... Are you saying that you would like the actual source code to do more with it? For who is reading this thread, here are a few screen shots. From just ONE modders out there. http://www.acsoft.ch/AMSO/IMAGES/images.html And yes in this Orbiter program, you CAN fly this Apollo sucker....!!! |

didn't mean any offence, just a joke Yeah I took it that way mate. ;) It's a very interesting app, a lot like FSX but with the thrusters in space, I always tried to fly the jets out into orbit but you'd hit that annoying invisible wall! |
