What are my chances of getting out of a contract with them without a cancellation fee.

I have been with them for about 4 years. About a year ago they cold called me and offered a contract. The contract gave me 3 months free. The first, third and ninth month.

In that conversation I had with the person, I insisted I would only go on the contract if there was no cancellation fees. I am pretty sure I also managed to get myself recorded as saying that I agreed only if there is no cancellation fees.

I have just called them up. Spoke to a person called Miguel in the cancellation department. He said I would have to pay $400 to get out of my contract. I raised a dispute with him. On the written record that they have, there was no mention of there being a cancellation fee. There was also no mention of the cancellation fee being waived.

I insisted on hearing my voice record. He said it would have to be passed on to the investigation department.

So guys, in the end. How likely do you think I would be able to get out of the contract without a cancellation fee? Or would I have to go to the TIO?

A contract is a contract. Why do you want to get out of it?

Every night the speed from 8pm – 11 pm have been throttled. I consider that a good reason to get out of it.

They have to keep a voice recording. Otherwise how are they going to prove that their customer agreed to anything?

Hmmm some how i don't believe they would give you a contract with no cancellation fees, what is the point of the contract if you can break at anytime with no penalties should be month to month.

Most telcos verbals systems only recognize yes, no so forth and jump straight to the next part of do you agree to once they hear a word they recognize.

Not very much of a chance and you might not even have a case with the TIO

Just remember you have agreed that you understand the terms of the contract which for them means pay out fees to break, and they have this on record (as stated verbal recordings for contracts do not record idle chatter).

you may get a reduce fee but that's a it

sorry to burst the bubble.

best to always get non standard agreements of your contracts in witting or emailed to you ,as wont be listed with any recordings or noted on your account.

lets us know how things go

They most likely have a record on your file of contacting you with a phone call on such and such date and you agreeing to a contract, which for their records is enough. Sure they can fudge this but an audit would then be a nightmare and they wouldn't last long if they were fudging contracts left right and center.

Meanwhile you have your word.

.... game set match Dodo.

I have been trying to get out of contract for quite a while due to horrible connection speads and lack of customer service. Even through the TIO I was never able to get out, but my contract is up this month and I am up and leaving.

I'm new here, please be nice

Well .. from what I have read there are hundreds of Dodo users getting disconnection notices mid contract for overuse.

So there are people that want to use Dodo that are being kicked off and people that want to leave that are trapped.

Maybe those that want to leave should start queuing up downloads 24x7, suck every bit of data you can until they kick you off.
