IN BRIEF | Internode has begun selling naked DSL on its own DSLAMs, including to customers living far away from their exchange.

The new plans are $5/month cheaper than Internode's existing naked DSL plans via Optus DSLAMs. However, it is not possible to switch to these new plans from existing non-naked ADSL2+ plans due to a lack of an appropriate transfer process at Telstra. Internode says it has begun the complaint process through the ACCC, but does not expect any results for some time.

By using an ADSL2+ mode called Annex L, or RE ADSL2+, Internode is also reaching customers that may have been rejected for ADSL previously.

"To date, we have succeeded in connecting broadband customers living as far as 7.5 km from the exchange", said Internode MD Simon Hackett. "With that increased radius, we can increase the coverage area by more than three times compared with the previous 4.1km broadband delivery limit, so we see great potential to fill in many of the blackspots that exist in metropolitan areas."
