Amid the confusion of April Fools' festivities, iiNet has announced a launch of Annex M ADSL2+, while Internode and 3 have made a number of plan changes to their existing line-up.
iiNet is one of only a handful of ISPs in Australia to offer Annex M on its equipment. Available only on the ISP's business plans, the feature provides similar downstream speeds to regular ADSL2+, but increases the potential upstream speeds from 1Mbit/s to 2.5Mbit/s. iiNet is charging a one-off activation fee of $49 for the upgrade, which it says is to cover various costs such as DSLAM licensing.
In other news, Internode has announced immediate, free quota increases for all Home and SOHO plans with monthly download quotas of 20GB or higher. The upgrade applies to all current plans, and gives users between 5GB and 20GB of additional monthly downloads.
3 has continued to aggressively discount pricing for its 3G mobile broadband service. It has introduced new plans for those that aren't existing 3 customer. The new plans start at $15/month for 1GB, and there's also $29/month for 3GB. A USB modem can be had for an extra $5/month.
