Is it me or is she trying too hard to make a comeback?
I think that she needs to understand that she`ll never make it back to how she was back in the days of "Hit Me Baby One More Time"

And its even worse that she lip synched for her concert.

I give her kudos for trying to get her life back on track, but I think its just not gona happen.

What is your opinion on this?

I don't know how she (or her management) expected this to work? The lip-syncing, dancing & bubblegum pop days are over. I'd like to think people don't buy it anymore.

Honestly she should have worn more clothing, sported her natural short hair and sung (not lip synced) a less derivative pop song. But I don't think she has the voice or the charisma to pull that off.

I agree with this, she still could have worn something sexy, but something less revealing such as black leather pants like the girl on the left.

She`s not doing much to bring back her repuation buy skimping around on stage in her underwear and fishnets.

Kind of reminds me of a crack whore :)

They were discussing this on the Today show this morning, they had an argument over the whole 'fat' issue. Steve Price in particular was saying she was fat, which I disagree with. She certainly doesn't have the body she had a few years ago, but she is far from overweight. But yer, that outfit was not good.

As for the performance, it was a bit 'blah' - but the lighting/setup on the outlining of the stage looked awesome.

ROFL @ the comments.

Come on, after two kids you'd probably balloon out as good as she has.

Someone should send the video to the chinese Authorities as proof that whales are nowhere as endangered as greenpeace allows.

"THERE SHE BLOWS !!!!!!!!!" Says Kev Fed.

If you look closely, when one of the Penguins helps the whale down from the rear upper stage to the forward lower, that she is *NOT* lip syncing at all, I mean her lips DO NOT MOVE, even though the soundtrack keeps going.

She has lost it big time.

What a woeful performance. It was like she had forgotten how to sing and dance.

To the OP: That was the MTV VMAs not a concert. Says so in the link too. I also think its just you because everyone but her billed that performance as a comeback performance. I'm also not sure by what you mean as trying too hard. She isn't exactly bombarding us with attempts to make a comeback (Magazine interviews, TV interviews, Radio interviews, making shocking statements etc etc). If you're referring to the performance then it was rather her LACK of trying that made her performance suck badly. People expected something amazing and all they got was an good idea (that is better than what most other performers can think of - compare similar pop/rnb artists) that was executed rather poorly.

I think she looks fine in terms of body - shes still got a body thats better than alot of non-celebrity women but just maybe not in comparison to other celebrities.
The lipsyncing was bad, she looked nervous and not into her performance.
This is either one of the biggest publicity stunts or something happened. The next time she goes to perform theres going to be even more speculation and more anticipation to see her rise above the bad stuff in her life atm.

OMG that reminds me of a part during the performance, theres like a part where theres a part where the back voice is singing or moaning or some shit, and then theres her supposed to be singing over the back voice, expect she was singing the back voice, and her other voice was playing and her mouth was moving with the other words of the song, not the main part. DEFINATELY LIPSYNCED.

I dont think these are things you do when you are trying to make a comeback.
Generally you party without your children - you'd be a pretty poor parent for taking them to clubs.
The other things seem more to do with her private life than her professional career. Obviously something happened between mother and child (if true), there are theories why she shaved her head and it is widely known that Britney is suffering from depression. Also, alot of the online community believe she could be bi-polar.
I'm not sure where the truck thing comes in though because thats the first I've ever heard.
I think people need to realise that not everything that you see/read is true and that its not always for publicity. [thats not a stab at you though]

EDIT: Everyone knows Britney lipsyncs. It doesn't make it ok but did anyone expect her to sing LIVE.
Chris Brown lipsynced at the VMAs too in case anyone needed another performer from that night.

The Ticketek website of course. EDIT: As someone else already linked to hours ago lol

The prices quoted are apparently for the normal people who would never dream of pissing away $1750 on a love seat let alone standing in a special section for $310.

I want to know what sort of people would pay that much money for a ticket to a concert! I'd probably pay it for a reunion ticket to Pink Floyd, but they'd have to dig up a few graves now to do that.

I despise brittany with a passion. Nothing worse than useless trash being popular and successful. Only a pathetic talentless trashbag would dare mime most of her concerts without shame. So many much more talented artists out there that I wish people would forget about her.

I couldnt stand her latest album it sounded like a 12 year old trying to sing. It was generic pop junk yet it was so successful. Sad really.

They'd she'd fade way into non-existence.

Fail enough. If people are stupid enough to pay her $$ to watch her mime then so be it.

I can't see it as 'moving forward' though when she is not even being the thing that she claims she is – a singer. She obviously has no issues with credibility – good luck to her I guess but it's pretty weak.

I wonder what she actually sounds like without all the studio trickery.

I'd like to hear what she (and quite a few others besides) sound like before ANY trickery. Even listening to someone 'live' who is not using anything but what they were born with, is somerthing that holds no interest for me.

Really? Real singers may go off-key from time to time live, but that's the great thing about real singers' live performances. Better than the sterile 'perfection' achieved in the studio, and much better than someone who fakes on stage.

I think you misread my post because I agree with you 100%. I don't mind a few fluffed notes or whatever, so long as the singer is really singing and having a real go and NOT using pitch correction etc. That is cheating and not very interesting.

I'm so over Britney (my tour review)
Ok, so I went to see the tour last night and having calmed down and recollected, I felt the need to just get this off my chest.

I knew she was going to mime, so to pick fault in that would be silly. But there were several times during the night when I was bored and seriously considered leaving ('Ooh Ooh Baby'/'Hot As Ice' and 'Breathe On Me'/'Touch Of My Hand'). True enough, they aren't my favourite tracks, but had they been any different to the studio versions, it might've held my interest.

In fact, that was perhaps my biggest problem. A handful of songs remixed slightly and the rest like-for-like CD tracks. No vocals re-recorded as live, no attempt to acknowledge that most fans have probably heard the songs countless times and don't want to sit there as though they're listening to their iPod and watching someone flail around a stage.

Which really is where it all fell apart. At some point or other in her career, Britney has at least had a small amount of stage presence (that one miming can have), but it's all gone. At times it was hard to pick her out of a crowd of dancers and more frequently, the video screens were a welcome distraction from the docile performance being given. The central stage set-up does not lend itself well to all the action happening on the furthest end away from you, but even less so when the only distraction from the monotony of listening to a playlist of Britney tracks on shuffle is the visual stuff.

The actual crowd interaction was minimal, the whole thing was like a strictly timed hologram, literally nothing happens inside of the confines of the stage different than it happens any other night, it's just looped over and over again.

It was easily the most impersonal concert I've ever been to, I couldn't get excited because I knew nothing unique would happen, every song was going to play out almost as exactly as it does on CD.

Again, I know that I should have expected all of this and it'd be foolish to expect anything more. But like I say, it wasn't just the miming, it was the way the whole thing is articulated. It's the ultimate example of self-indulgency, the arrogance of marching around a playground for the best part of an hour to the sound of her own music, with less than 60 seconds of audience acknowledgement. I wasn't even convinced by the end that she was still moving her lips and by the time 'Womanizer' rolled around, she seemed as eager to leave the stage as the audience did the venue.

The worst thing is, she probably actually doesn't give a crap. How could she gauge audience reaction from only two lucid moments when she actually took the time to look past the edge of the stage. So many people around the venue beforehand had dressed up, I felt sad that the most they got back was a "hey London". But perhaps many of the people there last night did enjoy it, with further tour dates being announced, there's still a considerable market for her to sell to. But I won't be in it any longer.

*loon breakdown*

lulz

Of course there will be bad ones. But mostly Ive read good ones. As if theres going to be 100% good reviews on anything.
Im not a huge fan but Id go and see it if I could. I think it would be a good show. I couldnt care less if she sang or mimed because its about the performance, the dancing etc.
Quite a few reviews I read were from people who were dragged along and didnt want to go but expected to have a laugh actually enjoyed the show that was put on.
Most are just anti Britney because of the recent happenings but shes not the first to go off and do her own thing and wont be the last. Its just that the media follow and sensationalise everything.
And I guess I am one of those people who believe everyone has different likes and dislikes and just because I dont like it doesnt mean everyone doesnt.
Bit like Kylie Minogue – I can not stand her music and still cant understand her fame but at the end of the day she would probably put on a good show.

Im hearing so much hype about the size of the show and all the semi's and jumbos required to transport it all. That would be because they need so much gear to coverup how useless she is at singing and dancing. They will fill up the stage with so many lights, dancers, and props and speakers that you wont even be able to notice her and you will be 'entertained'. Its pure trash entertainment. She is interchangable with any decent looking chick off the streets. It really pisses me off that someone so useless is so popular. A sad sad reflection of todays society.

Fair enough. A thread I recently made on a band who I quite enjoy got similar (if slightly more positive) responses to this one, despite the fact that this band can play instruments and sing live.

I would like to know, however, why it doesn't matter that she's lip-syncing. Music is about just that – the music. If she can't sing like she does on the record (or better) without assistance/backing, then she is hardly a musician.

Without sounding like an old podger four times my age, music used to be about technical ability and passion. Now, Britney Spears-a-likes have neither and are more popular than those WITH both musical ability and amazing songwriting prowess.

Haha. I remember listening to my sister's copy of the second most recent Britney CD (the one that's before Circus... I had to sit in the car with her on the way to school... she was still 17 at the time!) and being so... bewildered that anyone can listen to songs that are about nothing but having sexual intercourse.

I called up the agency trying to change it but they said they need to speak to my girlfriend. Oh dear I am legit scared of telling her that I got her DOB wrong....
