Just wondering if any of you MM users are actually using your @me.com address for your main email? Or do you mainly use MM for the calendar and contacts syncing? I bought MM from Mac1 recently and I'm thinking of using the email as my main address. I also use MM to keep my iPhone 3G and Macbook in sync. If you don't use it as your main email address, do you forward your other mail to it or not use it at all? If I get MM to check an external pop account does that then become push email for the other account (ie. I have a Bigpond email account as well). Or does forwarding your ext email account still get pushed to the iPhone via MM? |

I use mine as my main email address – i love it :) Great to hear!! I've only used my @me.com email a little bit as I haven't given it out to everyone yet. A pain to have to change email addresses I guess but I do like the idea of having a 'push' email for my iPhone :) |

The MM email address can be pretty flakey....but the up side is the push email so its sort of worth it. But if you want to reply via your iPhone....its the easiest way to go. ".me" is such a silly email address , shame they dont still allow .mac. I think you answered your own question re the POP email accounts you have....pop3 needs manual checking so you will need to set up a rule top check it every minute or so....which is the same result. Good luck, i cant get any pop3 accounts working on my iPhone. Tony |

I've been using my .mac (.me) email address as my primary work email for years. So long as I stay with .mac / .me, I have freedom to move carrier without changing my email address. |

I didn't. Simply because I prefer not to be locked in to a service or provider (in this case MobileMe). If I get MM to check an external pop account does that then become push email for the other account (ie. I have a Bigpond email account as well). Or does forwarding your ext email account still get pushed to the iPhone via MM? Yes and No. Your email will be pushed once MM receives it. However, MM can only check an external pop account on a periodical basis, which means you're only getting instant push from MM -> iPhone but not from Bigpond -> MM. The other option is to forward all your Bigpond email to MM on the server settings (if they have this option). Setting up forwarding on a mail client won't do much good as it is most likely to check email periodically anyway which just going to introduce whole sets of new issues. Currently I use Google Apps for Domain to manage my email, then hooked up to my iPhone via IMAP. Everything is in sync perfectly. Should I no longer want Google to handle my email, I can always get another ISP to host my mail account or point to an Exchange server somewhere without having to send email to all my contact telling them that I just changed my email address. If you don't use it as your main email address, do you forward your other mail to it or not use it at all? There was a period when I set all my email to be forwarded to the @me.com account for the push notification. However, I found that I can live without push email (I still use push contacts, calendar, etc, mind you) and in the end I opt for the benefit of folder sync in IMAP |

Just wondering if any of you MM users are actually using your @me.com address for your main email? Or do you mainly use MM for the calendar and contacts syncing? yes I do use my dot mac account yes my @mac.com account (and yes I am aware its called mobile me) its great if you have an iphone 3g or 3g S they should have this service provided with all iphones because I don't know why you wouldn't all you contact just sync over the air all your bookmarks all your emails come to you as instant as sms because its an exchange account. public and private folders can be accessed from any computer anywhere in the world you can't setup a great site and set it up with a domain name. you can setup your own gallery for sharing photos. AND Lastly the best feature that also re-enforces why the mobile me server should come standard with the iphone is "find your phone" function which allows you to find you phone via gps if you lose it or it got stolen. |

Well it sounds like quite a few of you are using your @me.com email address then. Just wondering how you've all found MM with regards to your data usage? I have been using MM for the past 2-3 weeks and prior to that my highest data usage for a one month period was 250MB. I checked my usage today and I've used 242MB and I'm exactly half way through my month. So I'm guessing the higher data usage for this month is due to MM as otherwise the phone usage has been fairly similar to previous months (ie; manually checking emails, some internet surfing, checking Facebook). I have 500MB per month so I'm going to keep an eye on it as I'm thinking I'm going to come close to that this month. Has anyone else found MM to use alot of their data usage? And I haven't even been getting heaps of emails on my MM yet as I haven't really given the email address out to too many people. So, if I start getting more emails does that would increase my data usage as well wouldn't it? I don't really get big attachments or anything so they're just text emails usually. Would it save on data usage to forward my other email accounts to MM? At the moment they are listed separately so I have 3 separate email accounts on my iPhone. Does anyone know how often MM checks and updates info (eg: between iphone and Macbook) to ensure they remain in sync? |

I have my gmail set to auto-forward email to my mobileme email, so I effectively get push gmail. I still give people my gmail address as my main email — that way if I ever stop using mobileme I don't have to change my email address again. |
