I am having countless problems in trying to sign up to an ADSL 2 plan.

I am going for the AAPT livenet 20 plan (unlimited) and on their site you can check your number etc to see if it is available.. which it is.

So, I decided to call up.. and was told again that it was available... so I proceeded to sign up.

After countless problems during the application process of having speeds codes and such, I narrowed it down to my ANT-1 unit.

I organised to have my ANT unit removed and had that done last week. I called back Telstra this morning to confirm anything that may hold my application up was removed. There was something there not done which he said would stop my application and he proceeded to fix it over the phone.

So back to AAPT this morning to tell them it should all be fine now and go ahead.

Only now to be told that adsl2 is not available and I can go only have adsl1.

It has been just over one month of trying to resolve the issues with connecting me to adsl2 and they only now come up with this?

nothing has been mentioned of this before.. it was always.. the speed codes or something along those lines.

On their site it continues to say it's available to me after putting in my number. On adsl2exchanges it lists AAPT's LIVEnet 20 plan there as well.

edit: oh and when putting my information into whirlpool checker I get this (as well as others):
This exchange has been enabled for ADSL2+ service by PowerTel / iiNet.

which AAPT uses

edit #2: currently on the phone now trying to find out why this is happening.
any help?

final edit: 2 possibilities (NO ports left [which he said was minimal chance] and NOT available)

sigh, this thread can be removed

Have you discounted being on a RIM?

Have you put your address into http://yourbroadband.com.au/ and see what it says?

Being on a RIM would have been the obvious one. Why are you so sure you are not on one. ?
The other less likely reason is no ADSL2 ports at the exchange.

Yeah, maybe they ran out of ports? Waited too long?

From memory I don't think ANT services were ever supplied over Rims.

Ditto for me.I have never seen an ANT1 fed through a RIM.

yes, they were. an ANT was simply an ISDN2 service with no data component, just 2 PSTN channels.

Don't think so, none of the ones I tested over the years, and I tested a lot, were on a Rim, they were of course fed via a 2B1Q card in the exchange.
Sorry, got this part wrong, meant the ISDN Line Interface in the exchange.

trust me. ;)

that 2B1Q can be fed transparently through a 2B1Q channel in a RIM just the same as any BRI ISDN service, which is all an ANT1 was.

Trust me, I still know more than you on this subject, despite my memory fade :)
And it is not transparent.

if you think so. the fact that I used to have an ANT1 that ran via a RIM alone suggests I am fairly conversant with the subject though.

Well it definitely is not the norm and I would guess it was a mistake, or product connect were getting really lazy.
Having programmed many Rim services, ISDN and ANT services, I never came across an ANT service via a Rim.

via a RIM alone

So it was an integrated Rim, or a Non Integrated Rim ?
