Well I'm in the market to buy myself a new monitor after living with my horrible Hanns-G 19" which has loads of static. I built myself a nice little gaming rig around three months ago with:
GPU – Radeon 4850 (will eventually crossfire or upgrade to 4870)
CPU – Core 2 Duo E4800, was nice value for the specs.
Motherboard – Gigabyte UD3P
Case – Thermaltake V9 (three large fans)
Powerpack – Cant remember at this time

This rig was under $1400 and well worth it in my opinion. I can run Crysis on highest settings and get fairly good fps, above the 30 mark and hitting the 40's on rare occasions.

Since my screen is pretty much useless for my rig now, as its nearly four to five years old, I'm tossing up on buying the BenQ E2200HD or the BenQ G2200HD. Both are nearly identical, other then the G2200HD has no HDMI but has a higher DCR and actually looks better. But something attracts me to the E2200HD more, but I cant really tell why. I wont be using the screens for console gaming or Blu-Ray so HDMI is pretty much useless atm, however I could use it in the future. DCR doesn't really concern me as many comments about the two say its not big difference. I'll be using the monitor for mostly computer gaming, I barely watch movies on my computer.

What do you think is the better choice, considering my situation. If you have anything else in the 22" range I'll be happy to consider that monitor as-well, but atm I'm really tossing up between these two. The only other monitor I've considered is the Dell 2209WA which looks fairly good and has IPS, but this doesn't really matter for me.

Thanks,
~Sensi

Well, with either one of those screens, that sure stops :P

I have the E2200HD and its really great. If you are attracted to it more than the G2200HD, i would go for it then. Plus the HDMI may be useful in the future.

There are still a few around, just need to search a lil.

Yeah, thats true, but in a few months I'll crossfire or upgrade, which will keep me going. :P

Is there anything better in the G2200HD then the E2200HD I don't know about? I can buy online if needed, and I've still seen E2200HD stock around the place, so I can still get it if needed.

I'm pretty convinced that I'll get the E2200HD, just because its got HDMI which I may need in the future. I've found it on Umart, which is where I buy my computer goodies, and its $233, which is a nice price and less then my original estimate of $270. I also looked at the G2220HD there, where it was only $206, which seemed very reasonable. The only thing I currently see better in the G2220HD to the E2200HD is the monitors actual looks.

I'm just wondering if anyone has the E2200HD or the G2220HD and can give me some feedback on it.

I reckon the DCR difference would play a factor in the years to come. Who cares if it has HDMI when its DCR is dismal.

No HDMI is annoying but I am planning on getting one on Friday, the G2200HD that is.

I got one of each. Got the E a while ago for me – very happy with it – a bit of bleed at the edges, but for just over 200 bucks pretty good. Just got a G for my son. Nice and bright. Main difference – weight! The G is much lighter – perhaps half the weight. It's a nice screen. I got mine last week from ARC for $227.

Is it worth paying extra to go to 24"? I notice that monitors like G2412HD have HDMI and are only $40 or $50 more expensive than the E2200HD.

Umart have E2200hd for 221.50

MSY have stopped stocking the monitor, according to a sales rep at the Box Hill joint. I rang them yesterday and supposedly they don't stock it anymore, so I have to resort to Centre Com for the monitor which is $20 more :(.

My son has two of the E2200HD screens, got the second one a week ago to dedicate to his PS3 via HDMI, whilst the other is hooked up to his PC, though he can dual screen them easily with the PC with just a couple of button presses on the side of the monitor. He's a gamer and plays most of his games (including Crysis) on fairly high settings with naught to fault. What can I say, he liked his first E2200HD so much that he bought himself another, there's the proof.

Shit it's called the 2220HD not 2200HD. That's why MSY didn't stock it! Oh, and they haven't got any in stock at the moment :)

Bought the monitor as well as a keyboard (Logitech USB Illuminated) and an extra 1GB of ram. First impressions, oh my god! The clarity is amazing! Bit annoyed that it only has VGA but luckily my graphics card box had a VGA to DVI converter because my graphics card only supports DVI! :)

Bought it for $222 at Centre Com in Bundoora.

Ok, I've bought the E2200HD from Umart since the G2220HD is the same price, and I'd like to have HDMI just in case for future needs. I'm actually out atm but its at home waiting to be opened and I'll be back in a few hours, cant wait to use it! Is anyone using VGA with the screen or DVI? I'm going to have to use VGA for a week or so until I buy a DVI cable. Does anyone know what type of DVI connection is on the E2200HD? Is it male or female? If I can't find out I'll buy a multi-DVI cable to be on the safe side.

Thanks,
~Sensi

? Sounds like you got ripped off. My E2200HD from umart came with both a VGA and DVI-D cable.

Or have you not brought it yet? You should get a DVI cable with it. You do not get a HDMI cable however.

Also I would strongly recommend getting HDMI with a monitor. Its makes things like using PS3 much easier. If you don't have HDMI then you will have the hassle of having to plug in speakers etc from each device.

Definately get a monitor with HDMI, it's bassically future proofing yourself, unless you're the type of guy that changes a monitor every few months or a year then I guess it wouldn't matter, haha. Either way having HDMI is a nice plus!

The BenQ E2200HD is awesome, I have it myself! It's perfect for gaming! Especially the 2ms response time which makes a big difference! And 1920x1080 looks nice = )

But I would also recommend you looking into the G2412HD, which also has just as good specs as the E2200HD + it is 24" instead of 22". It's currently going for around $300 ausie dollars when I checked online, which isn't much more than the E2200HD. Look into it!
