I'm having an issue with this combination with Nodephone, the issue is that on outbound calls the remote party can't hear me- on inbound calls its all fine.

Apparently this is common with the 5200G, anyone got any workarounds- a way to turn off the SIP ALG?

yes it is- I even tried forwarding the RTP port range the unit is trying to use.

I'm going to test the theory that the 5200G is to blame with another modem, but I suspect its correct because the symptoms match & I've got almost identicall configured C470's elsewhere (using other modems) that work perfectly...

Hi

Login via telnet & issue the following commands, this will disable SIP-ALG

tc> ip nat service sip sw off
Nat Sip v2 switch Off!

Cheers

How did you go checking it out?

I have a similar problem and was pointed to these commands by internode.

ip nat service sip sw off
This seems to work, but I get no response

Nat Sip v2 switch Off!
I get a message which gives me the valid commands

And the end result is there is no change

You can cross the Linksys PAP2 off the shortlist you are developing. Are all the Billions the same?? I have others at work, would it be worth trying or is it a general billion issue?

Hi

There are currently no issues, all also work fine with the 7300, 740x & 7800 series.

Ensure that routers have latest firmware.

I have also tested this modem with a Cormain GW211, no problem.

Try changing your VoIP phone to 5070 instead of 5060. Factory reset everything first though. Also, disable firewall in this modem.

Hang on changing the port from 5060 to 5070 – isnt that just the port that my providing is accepting the sip connection, if I change it to port 5070 wont that not work.

Everything is factory reset, I just opened the box.

Disabling the firewall made no change

I know of a case, where user was with iiNet VOIP, and 5060 does not work, yet 5070 does. It was similar set up, Billion 5200G + ZyXEL 2302R

I swapped the 5200G out for a different modem, because it most certainly DID NOT work. I had the firewall disabled, and I tried different ports. Its most annoying.

I have just experienced this problem with my Billion 5200G and both a Open 812L and the Siemens 470IP.

I have tried every recommendation on this thread and /forum-replies-archive.cfm/1131311.html regarding the Open 812L.

Both these threads died without any resolution.

Is there a work around to get a Siemens 470IP to connect to Nodephone through a Billion 5200G?

Cheers

Nick

Try changing the sip port in C470 to 5061.

C470>telephony>adv sett>sip port>5061.

You can experiment with ports from 5061 to 5070. Enabling DMZ for the phone ip could also help.

There could be an issue with the 5200 series and tbh I haven't got a chance to fiddle with them yet. Just to be sure......... can you get a successful registration everytime repeatedly? Did you by any chance change the server(domain, sip, proxy) ports fro the default 5060? Have you tried to reduce the NAT refresh time (say 2sec)?

i did- registration no trouble, but voice was single direction. works perfectly with the same settings on a different modem.

The issue is that with the SBCs that Nodephone uses to make everything work, you don't really want a SIP ALG- its handled from the Node end. The 5200G is too crap a product to have an option to turn the ALG off.

its pretty much the bottom of the line , cheap standard modem / router , it works for what it was intended for , and at around $60 aus is just designed for the basic user , your gigaset cost at least 3 times that , perhaps spending a few more dollers on your network equipment wouldnt hurt

other features etc like the ability to turn on and off sip are incorporate in higher end models

Sorry to bump an old thread but was anyone able to find a resolution for this? I'm having the exact same issue with a SPA2000 voip box (can't hear other people on the phone). I've tried disabling the firewall on the router and have tried to telnet into the router but neither have worked. Anyone have any advice? :(

Quentin gave me a special firmware with the ALG disabled, not sure if that option has made it into a later release. Under Firewall, is there an option to disable SIP ALG? If so disable it.
