I have just discovered www.cdwow.com.au and the prices for PC games seem to good to be true? I don't understand how it can be so cheap, and most of them are free shipping as well. Has anyone used this site before i would like to know if this is a legit place to buy from.

Yeah they are legit, I have bought quite a few things from them, and no hassles.

Sometimes if it's a really good price they won't have much stock, and you will have to wait a lil while longer.

Nope, Im assuming you mean us = United states servers.

You need to get a US Burning Crusade CD key to be able to play on US servers

I do remember being able to play on some US servers on an AU copy of WoW back in the day...Blackrock i think it was? This was prior to any oceanic servers i think...i can't be sure, have blizzard changed their policy? I do remember playing on Frostmourne at one stage, which is an oceanic server.

Can i assume theres no point in purchasing the burning crusade from cdwow as anAustralian customer looking to play on an Australian server?

CD-WOW is legit and damn cheap. They've been around for YEARS. I used to buy lots of R2 DVDs from there in 2002-03. Last time I checked, their delivery was pretty quick too (around a week, they operate out of HK). Recommended.

There are no Australian servers.
The Oceanic servers (which are still located in the US) can be played on with a US/AU copy of WoW... NOT a UK/EU version

cdwow sell aussie versions of games. I bought far cry 2 for pc off them last week, and received the aussie version of the game with our oflc rating and the sleeve states "manufactured in australia".

yeah I pre-ordered Red Alert 3 off them. Got an e-mail on Friday saying it they still hadn't received the stock and it wouldn't dispatch till Monday. But all good I reckon, at least they are in contact about it.

That's the trade off really. Pay an extra $40-50 and get it on release from a local retailer or wait a week or so and save that amount to put to another game.

Ordered both Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3 on the 23rd. Far Cry 2 was delivered on the 31st, and as stated previously, was the Aussie version of the game. Fallout 3 yet to dispatch, but I suppose its a good thing what with exams around the corner. Just hope it arrives by the time they're over!

I asked cdwow about this. they have different suppliers, so they get different prices. make sure they are compatable with your console and you can buy the cheapest one while its in stock.

I ordered Far cry 2 and was dispatched straight away so should get it this week.

Also i got confused by the prices but you have to wait till release date to finalize it and make sure its in stock before you buy.

Are you sure? My farcry from them had an insert in it with advertising from bigpond, yes optus and some nz company and says aus and nz on it. It also says manufactured in Australia on the barcode.

You probably are right as I bought off the australian cdwow site, but either way uk and Australian should be the same regardless, I just hope I have no onoine problems with fc2 pc.

I had a look at cdwow.com.au, and noticed that they did not specify whether DVDs had subtitles/captions. Sent off an email suggesting that they put availability of subtitles on every DVD they sell, and got a reply within 45 minutes saying that my suggestion will be taken up to the management as I made a valid point. Sweet! Very impressed with their service – even though I haven't bought anything from them, but looks like I'll be purchasing stuff from them in the near future.

No, you would want to get the US version for wow. The US version is for US/AUS/NZ players.

OMG THE delivery is the fastest over seas delivery ever. I ordered it on friday afternoon, it was dispatched basically straight away and I got it this morning I expected it to be delivered this friday that is like less then 4 days delivery from Hong Kong! awesome!

Just got into contact with cdwow, apparently they had a problem with their supplier for Fallout 3. They're expecting to ship from the 7th.

Their problem would have been the fact that they would have been way over pre-ordered for their allotment for release day. It happens to lots of online retailers and they tend to use the "Uhm..it was the supplier" all the time.

They ship from Hong Kong. Never had a problem – everything is great. Previously when I've ordered from them it took around 7 working days I think, however with Dead Space it took 4 working days as it was sent Airmail (and that's to North Queensland) – pretty damn good. So far my JB Fallout preorder has taken that long -.-

I was going to purchase GTA4 and Warhead on PC from cdwow, but I've read some other problems with them on WP. Apprently for pre-orders they charge your credit card at the time of ordering, not the time of despatch (Pretty sure the likes of Play Asia charge at time of Despatch). They are very cheap though, but I don't want to get burned as I've been waiting for GTA4 to come on PC for far too long.

I've recently ordered Crysis, Warhead, Bioshock and Dead Space. The only annoyance I had was that since supplies were apparently lacking, my order has been broken into 3 separate shipments.

Fingers crossed on receiving all 3 within the allotted shipment timeframe =P.

Lucky for you. I ordered the same game earlier than you but still in pending dispatch. I guess they don't have enough in stock.

I once ordered 2 copies of FIFA08, 1st one arrived in less than 1week but the seocond copy never arrived. Money was refund in 6weeks time.

Yep Hong Kong, you go to the Australian cdwow site, all the games say its manufactured in Australia so the rating system, and content is all ready for Australian only use. $50 is a very good price, ashame console prices are still rather expensive.

They list 2 versions for practically every game, what looks to be an American and Australian version. The dearer ones are generally Australian, having our OFLC stickers on the front. The cheaper one seems to be US versions, and they always seem to have the US versions in stock. Of course for PC it doesn't really matter where you get it from, unless your version affects MP servers etc.

Nope, you pay what they originally stated on the checkout screen.

Got my $41 far cry 2, PS3 edition copy yesterday, so i'm very happy, although it did take 2 weeks to get here. But for the saving i dont mind at all.

Received my PS3 Far Cry 2 from them for $41 ... No doubt a pricing mistake on their part, but they honoured it.

With Blu-ray movies one is the UK Version and the other is the AU or US version. They get it from a large source of suppliers so they can offer better prices on different items

With so many cheap 360 games, the trade in 3 for 1 new game at JB is looking ever appealing.

Yah, the prices seem too good to be true on cdwow.com.au. I put an order in for FallOut 3 on the 27th-Oct for $48, the next day they had bumped up the price to the current price of $52 or something. Since the game wasn't released by then, I was expecting it to arrive well after the 31st (release date).

On the 9th-Nov, yesterday, I received an email from CDWOW notifying that my copy of Fallout 3 has just been dispatched, and that I should wait "at most" 7 days for it to receive it.

Will leave feedback once I get the game!

Rest assured, the case comes as per retail store standards. Though I'm a little paranoid and suspect CDWOW store the game discs separately and simply repackage as required (which isn't too unrealistic a thought).

Delivery is free, and items are sent via standard air mail. My copy of Far Cry 2 took about a week arrive after the order status changed to "dispatched". I was one of the fortunate bunch who snapped up the PS3 version for $41 while it was mistakingly advertised at said price :D

but yea, cdwow is the cheapest of all the online shopping sites that i know of. The drawback being, they don't stock absolutely everything. But if it's a big title, be sure to preorder there.

Free international shipping from CDWOW. Compare that to a typical $10-15 P&H most everywhere else.

It takes up to 7 working days though has usually arrived for me in 4-5.

In the UK they broke some laws for importing music CD's from Asia and selling them cheaper than what they are sold for in the UK. This broke distribution rights of some record companies, the courts told them not do it, they agreed to but still kept selling them. They were taken to court again, they pleaded that they didn't realise they had sourced the from Asia but were fined and convicted iirc.

Fallout 3 PC arrived today. It was dispatched 8th November.

It was packaged in a white bubble wrap satchel and shrink wrapped. It came in a dvd case like you would see in the shops, full manual and disc was not scratched. It had an 18 rating.

I ordered valkyria chronicles for my ps3 from them last week and been told they should dispatch yesterday,,,

however received an email last night saying they are waiting from their supplier for the shipping date to them :-(

These guys are definitely legit. Got my packages today, 12th and they were shipped out on the 7th. Fast/Free postage and the cheapness is amazing. $104 for Red Alert 3 and Fallout 3. I'm happy. Last year 12 exam forever tomorrow and now I got these sick games to play. :D

I received that one for RA3 and a similar one for Fallout 3 (18/11).

As far as I know, the same thing happened to the first batch of Fallout 3 copies, and it was delivered promptly after the date specified.

ok so a few emails back and forth with me saying that I refuse to scan and send my credit card as I had payed with PayPal.
We came to the agreement that my Drivers License would be sufficient so I blacked out the last two digits and my signature leaving my address visible.

They have released my order and said I will receive an email when my order is processed and shipped.
A little annoying however the person I was dealing with (Jen) seemed very reasonable and hopefully my issue has been sorted.

As my post above, Fallout 3 was due to be shipped on the 18th. I logged in on the 14th, and it said it had been dispatched on the 14th, yay! It's not too bad, since it was early anyway, but I received an email on the 15th informing me that it had been dispatched, the date now read 15th on their website.

Regardless, I'm hoping to get it this week. No word on Red Alert 3 though, and it was due to be dispatched around then.

edit: i definitely did not read the wrong order, I checked it on their website, Fallout 3 dispatched, RA3 pending.

They dispatched FM yesterday, but recieved the email today, so i will see how long it takes.

Got a few emails saying that my payment went though and that they would send them as soon as possible.

Finally turned up in the 7th.
Games installs and works fine.

Hope this eases the worry for some.

However I received an email saying my game would be dispatched on the 17th due to delays and they would email me when it does, I still haven't heard from them and the status of my order still says pending dispatch.

I do think the service is excellent, and that under the cirsumstances the delays are out of their hands.

Ordered COD:WAW Friday around 5pm (listed as in stock) and it arrived this morning (Tuesday) from Hong Kong via airmail.

I have ordered Left for Dead from these guys, due to Valve's crappy pricing on Steam.
I'll let you guys know how it goes – I'll assume I'll get it within a week or so of release – the Steam release is today but retail, who knows!

I was going to grab GTA4 off these guys, but since I want it basically on release I'll just use EB's 20 dollar pre-order offer. Nothing against CD WOW, but it seems like they don't handle release dates very well i.e. not getting stock to people who pre-order or order on release.

Today they send me an email requesting that I fax or email them a scanned image of my credit card and ID with the address of the order.

This seems really sus to me as I payed via PayPal so they should have no need to confirm my credit card details.

I received this email as well and decided to ring my bank and ask if this was ok. They advised that scanning a copy of my credit card and sending it would be a breach of policy and that I would lose all protection.

I've sent an email back to CDWOW explaining this and am yet to hear back...

Unfortunately if you do not send a scanned copy of your credit card, they cancel your order.

So the option is either lose ALL protection on your credit card (for other transactions as well!) and get games from CDWOW, or buy your games from someplace else.

Juncal, all was fine with COD:WAW – played online multiplayer last night without any dramas (after downloading the 1.1 patch of course). All written stuff was in english – though have to admit that I didn't actually open the manual, just grabbed the key printed on the back of it.

No, the issue appears to be with paypal – it gives the buyer protection, but not the seller – which means CDWOW can be out of pocket if someone uses scammed paypal accounts. Chucky on the node forums explained this well.

The verification emails are only affecting random paypal purchasers – seems like they are spot checking.

I gave them a scan of my drivers but they said, your adress is different to the on on your drivers licence. I told them I just moved and they were happy with that.

Someone over on node just posted that they've never been asked for verification on any of their Paypal orders – but the total has always been under $150.

My order was $160 or so, so I'm guessing verification might only apply to orders paid by paypal that exceed $150.

Anyone else verify this?

That was a fluke, they say 7-10 days, and even then I'd say that's business days. Consider yourself lucky on your previous order, and average on this one.

Your order may already be in Australia, and even further out of cdwow's control.

The average is usually 5 days though mate.

Photocopy the front and the back (This is assuming your license is or similar to a QLD license, where they put a little sticker on the back with your new address).

Someone could steal your drivers license number, make up a forged license using all your details minus your photograph. Personally I wouldn't be too worried.

I don't recall any fancy logo's on the package. It just came in a standard bubble package.

CdWow seems to be good when they actually have the item stocked however when they don't have it stocked, you basically have a long wait haha. I probably got lucky on my quick first time purchase. Definitely going to inquire on amount of stock before purchasing next time around.

lol I think something is wrong with you.

I've made 3 orders so far.

1. GTA IV (PS3). Arrived 9 days after ordered.
2. White PS3 dualshock controller. Arrived 10 days after order. Received an email stating not in stock after ordering but they managed to restock within 2 days.
3. Uncharted (normal version). Received an email after order saying they can't source any normal version anymore even though it's in stock when i ordered. Cancel my order and it's processed in one day.

Overall, their dispatch and delivery is slow in my cases. But it's free delivery by normal airmail. Not going to complain much. Pricewise, I'll say it's excellent for both items i've purchased so far. GTA IV cost me ~$64 dollars compare to $88 in retail . DS3 controller cost me ~ $72 (2 dollars discount) compare to $94 here. That's $44 saved.

Their customers service is quite good too. Fast response. I've received 3 x $2 dollars discount vouchers already. Now i just need to find games to buy. Still deciding whether should i ordered the platinum version of Uncharted( I hate the case but 29 dollars after voucher discount is a very tempting price).

Yay got Red Alert 3 today but football manager 2009 was dispatched 2 days earlier then Red alert but haven't recieved it yet

Ordered Halo 3 from them a few weeks back for $30 or so. Got it in about 10 days. Very happy with the price, reasonably happy with the time frame (considering it came from Hong Kong).

My order was delayed for 2 days while I cleared up some security issues with them (Read a few pages back) and ended up being dispatched on the 14th.

My controller arrived on the 18th and I was very pleased with the shipping time.

Naruto was meant to be released on the 7th
I first received an email saying that it was delayed and could be dispatched on the 17th
I received a second email saying that it was further delayed and would be expected on the 21st
Third email, 24th
and today it got pushed back again to the 28th.

Now I don't blame them, as I doubt they could have done anything if the problem was with their suppliers, but just to re-enforce what people have said previously.

You will have to make sure you take postal insurance, things get lost in post office these days.

I ordered LBP last Thursday and it arrived this tuesday in Sydney (great turn around since i was expecting longer.) It's perfect condition like an above poster has stated, it is PAL but it's the European version. Made in Austria to be specific. (not sure what details the Aussie versions have.)

However online works flawlessly and haven't had any problems with it so far. Cheapest place to get LBP by far.

I got A7X Live in the LBC exactly a week (7 days) after I bought it. Only thing that gets me is it still says dispatched and doesn't say where its heading.

I'm waiting on mine. Shipped two days ago. I was seduced by the low prices (and the fact that I got Fallout 3 from them 10 days before for $49.95. It's the UK version, was perfectly brand new and got here in less than a week! Win!) and didn't think about the region thing...

If Wikipedia is to be believed (!) Steam only locks out Thai and Russian boxed games (due to their incredibly cheap local pricing) so the fact that this is an EU version shouldn't be a problem. Fingers crossed...

COD 5 from CDWOW is fine, i got mine wednesday and everything is perfect, you really cant go wrong for $58. will definately buy from their again.

So far, my experiences have been positive with cdwow. Purchased Wiiplay with remote controller for $57.95 and facebreaker for $30.95 on 18/11. Received email on 20/11 stating items were dispatched. Received items in Perth on 24/11.

I didnt realise they posted from Hong Kong either. The items were well packaged and didnt have cdwow on the front, but on the customs declaration it was marked as dvd. Considering it was free postage, I couldnt beat those prices.

Overall very happy and I would buy from them again.

Well my experience with CDWOW has not been good so far.

Ordered 2 titles (RFOM2 & SOCOM) from them and they're still in Pending Dispatch status for the past week because of "supplier issues".

The difference being the debacle last year when valve decided to be assholes by banning people's copies of orange box which they had sourced from south east asia.

I have however been told that this shouldn't be a problem seeing as CD-Wow is selling the European version and not the asian version, but would be nice to get confirmation of this from someone who has received a CD-Wow version.

I ordered two items recently, and the 7-10 day estimate was pretty accurate. One item came in 5 days, the other in 8 or 9.

One game came in 7 working days, I think it got delayed as it got dispatched before my other one which came in 3 working days dispatched Wendesday came in first Monday

I don't know. How can you tell? I don't see any ratings on it by the Office of Filam and Literature rating on it, so i guess it's not the Australian 'censored' version if that's what you're getting at.

When you order multiple games does CD-WOW send each copy separately? Reason I asked is that I purchased 2 copies of Left 4 Dead but only received one today. Pal version will be engrish. no pal territories in asia. hopefully they might have language options to undub it?

If it's not in stock judging from what I've heard it depends on their supplier, it could be a week or it could be a a couple of months.

they're different prices because they're sourced from different suppliers.

usually they'll be the same version. sometimes they'll be different regions.

I thought they dont charge you til games arrive, my credit card has be charged. they couldnt have gotten the game alrdy...I was charged the low $62. If u look on their main page now it lists SF for $112...but when u click on it, it takes u to a page that also display the $62 price. Odd, could be a mistake?

I ordered MGS4 on the 16th Jan and they're still waiting for supplier stock.
I ordered Motorstorm Pacific Rift on the 25th Jan with the 'In stock, sent within 24 hours' status and it finally got dispatched today! :) (30th Jan).

All of their prices have gone up by ~ $4-$5, luckily I bought MGS4 when I did, it's going for $74.95 now, I got it at $66.

I'll give them a month before I start quizzing them about the delay.

I can't complain about the prices that's for sure so it'll be worth the delay.

The game was released last year for Japan & the U.S., the release date is correct for Australia. Just get the game with the headset off Play-Asia thats what I did, works fine in Australian Servers.

The actual time to get the game from dispatch was only around 4 days, so that's pretty good.

Not a bad deal. Except that at about 10:05 all games went up by $3. Such a sham. Dissapointing for a company which has a pretty good reputation.

Finally got the first package today which was dispatched on the 2nd February 2009.
Post Package was well sealed and came from Hong Kong and game packaging was shrinkwwarpped and in ok condition but a little dented due to transit, disc and manuals are all perfect mint condition as I'd expected.

My other two games are still on back-order and pending dispatch, they might not be able to get them perhaps :(

My first experience with them has not been a good one. I did the thing to check stock yesterday for the item and they said they had it in stock. So i ordered it, and today they sent me an email telling me it was out of stock and they are waiting to receive it.

Hope it doesn't take too long. I will try for a refund in a weeks time and just buy it from EB if they are still "awaiting stock".

I purchashed Guild Wars Trilogy from these guys which also game with Eye of the North free. They were out of stock but it only took them about 2 weeks to get it back in stock and then shipped out to me. Theres not much anyone can do when stock runs out but wait for them to get more. But I just kept on their back about it and when they got it in stock they shipped out immediately and then notified me via email.

I'm thinking about pre-ordering Dawn of War 2 from them, it retails for $110 AUD, and they have it for $48.95 ( http://www.cdwow.com.au/Warhammer-40000-Dawn-Of-War-II/product/view/6275673 ). That's just plain ridiculous. I'd love to play the game day one, but I'm not too bothered if it's a bit late.

With a price difference like that, why would ANYONE buy this game in a shop?

Well i'm just going by how long it took them to restock and deliver MGS4 for me which was around 3 weeks. You might not be so unlucky.
Also, the fact that there is no stock level listed Limited Stock, Hurry!" or "In Stock – Usually ships within 24 hours means that it is most probably out of stock.

I recently ordered Rock Band 2 from CD WOW, as they were slightly cheaper than game.co.uk and their site indicated that they had 'limited stock.' However the next day I received an email saying that they would not have any stock for another week or so.

As I wanted the game quite soon, I decided to cancel my CD WOW order and order Rock Band 2 from game.co.uk instead, no big deal. So I did, the cancellation was quickly processed, funds were returned to my Paypal account and I ordered the game from game.co.uk. However a couple of days later I got another email from CD WOW saying my order had been dispatched? I assumed that this was a mistake, but began to wonder if I was about to receive two copies of the same game... Sure enough, in a few more days Rock Band 2 arrived from CD WOW, and the next day the game arrived from game.co.uk. With only one having been paid for.

So my CD WOW experiences have been quite good so far :)

The entire time there is nothing on the website about being out of stock so they continue to take orders from people knowing full well they have no stock.

Also the status just happens to change to dispatched on the date that steam have a 50% of Left for Dead weekend which they did just so I can't cancel and get it off steam (I don't really believe it has been dispatched).

Do that actually advise you that there will be a delay and they are out of stock? I placed an order on Friday and have received no emails other than the order confirmed email.

On the status page it says 'pending dispatch'. Does that mean that have the game and are waiting to post it?

My previous orders usually sit at pending dispatch for a day or two before being dispatched. I wouldn't worry just yet.

well i had been putting off getting it until after exams. I ordered the game like a day after playing it at a gaming lounge because i love it.

I bought it off steam after it still hadn't dispatched after a week because i couldn't wait any longer.

The second copy is for my brothers steam account so i can play with him.

Bottom Line = cdwow screwed me

there is no way of knowing though.

Left 4 Dead has been out of stock since at least Jan 19 and the entire time the item's been listed as in stock.

They don't tell you if something is out of stock until you place an order and have had your credit card debited. This way you are less likely to cancel the order.

This has happened to me except I had ordered it on the 17th Jan!!! Luckily I had canceled it before Steam released a 50% discount (unfortunately, I had gone straight to the local shops and purchased a copy after cancellation).

The worst is yet to come! I still haven't recieved a refund despite their comfirmation that it would be done! I canceled on the 11th/Feb. I'll give it till the end of Monday before I contact them again.

I would be wary of CDWOW if you plan to make any purchases. Make sure they have it in stock before you commit!

Every Monday they send me an update on which items are still delayed.
And my first order was delivered within the timeframe their website states for Australia.

Looks like the another item I ordered is now in stock so hopefully that will get dispatched soon with one more too go.

I'm only telling you from what I've read but even though you paid straight away your money would have had some delay in getting into their accounts and it's the same thing with refunds.

The speed depends on your bank and theirs but if it's over a week I'd be contacting them.

Agree, IMO it is the sites biggest flaw.

They shouldn't really be selling products they don't have in inventory anyway. At the very least they should be advising customers they do not have particular items in stock rather that mentioning nothing either way.

You can get a refund. I am currently getting a refund on a ps3 headset i ordered from them that was "in stock", however they told me it wasn't after i had paid. :(

Not really I mean they're an online retailer not a brick and mortar store. With a store you can usually put a basic deposit down (say 10% of final cost) and it's a guarantee you'll get it on release, that's a pre-order.

Here they take the lot the moment you order and you don't know what the hell is going on half the time because their emails are cryptic and don't give you a straight answer on when they're getting in stock, when they're shipping or even if they'll have enough stock to honour your order without having you wait for weeks for more stock to come in.

It's a crap system for the end consumer that's for sure and after I find out what's happening with my last game ordered I'll certainly never use them again.

I was aware of the issues but didn't think it would take over a month let alone over two to get all three games.

Yes, and no.

It is a tad disingenuous that they don't ship from Australia. Nor do they charge GST, which is good or bad, depending on whether you are a consumer or work for the ATO.

But, their "Australian" site — which runs from their international site — does have oz pricing, and free delivery to oz. (Unlike many other international merchants.)

Also, HK isn't really that far away. I've had goods sent from HK to Adelaide in 5 days, which isn't much longer than Australia Post takes to send me packages from Sydney these days... (The postage times from cdwow are more to do with whether they have stock available, rather than distance.)

Cdwow is the new playasia for me ever since the US dollar dropped from 90+cents to 65cents.

I'm just happy i got street fighter 4 for $60.45 (UK copy) with the -$2 dollar coupon and postage insurance.

CDWow are great – I got Left4Dead from them a while back

Took about three days to get the money back.

I ordered back in Jan 18 and have since changed my order from xbox 360 version to PS3 version. No words were communicated to me except my order status was shown to be CANCELLED on the website. I got worried, blasted a fairly angry email to them indicating my frustration over lack of communication. They replied apologitically and said they have changed the order and will ship the item out when it is released. That was back in Jan 20.

I just checked their website again the order status is still CANCELLED. I am starting to worry they will just not ship my item and argue I have cancelled the order but don't refund my money.
